All those passives. I wonder where the speakers went ? Those will be invaluable to many in the future that need such.

The seller has several ads where the drivers and tweeters are also for sale. He probably has a mountain of empty cabinets in his backyard. :D

He must be a butcher of sorts. :#

No wonder. Looking at the price these speakers go in Craigslist, shipping parts makes way more money, usually more than double.

I don't remember what passive it is but my 3.1 passive was saved by a member on here. The counter weight broke free.... Wish those were closer I'd snag them up.

    Blame Polk.
This all happened due to the bad glue.

It's happened to more than just polk drivers. Many of the others folks just throw away as they are less desirable speakers so we just do not hear it.

I would probably take them anyway if I were out that way. Thanks to @xschop I have a set of X overs I could build for them and I always keep spare 6511's

Did anyone here snatch these up?

I know I didn't. They might as well be in Egypt far as I am concerned. Phenix City AL is a long way from there. Not only that I am actually going to start letting some equipment go. Filled up all my extra storage !

I'd buy them for the tweeters.

Nice cabs and Peerless tweets and maybe good crossovers for half a hundy? Sounds like a no-brainer.

Anybody in the intermountain west following this thread? I just finished up a pair of 3.1TL's, listed locally here in Utah. Could make some arrangements if a fellow polkaholic is in the market and within reasonable distance to meet up. I’m hoping to get $575 for them which is pretty much what I have into them. Holla if'n you’re interested.

    Stuff I’ve done to them:

    - They’ve been aesthetically refreshed, re-stained with India ink and topped with polyacrylic. There are some blemishes from mistreatment in the past, luckily the worst of it is on the backs. Grilles and cabinet cloth is in good condition, no snags or rips, a little schmegma on them that I haven’t tried to clean off yet, but it shows worse in the photo than it is in person.
    - The magnets have all been secured with powergrab to prevent shifting.
    - Noico damping material has been applied to all baskets to reduce ringing.
    - The tweeters were upgraded with RD0-198’s.
    - Terminal cups have all new binding posts and built new jumpers.
    - Drivers and passives are all in great condition and the cabinets are sealed well.
    - Included is a custom 12’ interconnect cable for the SDA circuit.

Also have listed a CS350-LS in vgc. Perfect working order. $125 obo.

Some photos in no specific order:

Makes me want to upgrade my spare 7B crossovers as above to make them 7tl's w/ RDO-198's just to see what sort of difference there is compared to Peerless. $650 though? I WISH you could get your labor back in resale value......but heck I'm never selling mine!

If you are never selling them, why would you worry about getting you labor $ back. Listening pleasure is also worth something.
  • Umm yes exactly! Just saying that I don't think they will sell for $650 especially in CA.

I see these vintage Polks go for half the price in CA that I see them sell for in NJ. Probably depends greatly upon the area though. I am not far from NYC and everything is jacked up here.

I've bought 4 pairs of 7's over the last 5 years. All of them have been for 30 dollars or less. One pair had peerless tweeters while another had the sl2500.

Vintage Polks do seem to run considerably cheaper out here in California in comparison to other states for some reason.

At those prices, they are experiments waiting to happen lol. The 7's can afford some interior bracing mods.

Looks like there is not a hole in that Peerless dome. Maybe Polk didn't do that early on.
