A while back I had been in contact with this guy about these speakers. We figured out that some years ago, he had replaced the SL-2000s with RD-0194s.
After I asked him about the XLR and standard SDA connections, he realized he hadn't ever heard them with the SDA interconnect properly connected. So, he went off and tried to connect them to hear the SDA effect and I figured that was the end of the story.
Apparently, he heard no difference when the SDA cable was connected, so he took them to George Meyer AV in LA to get them fixed. They said it would cost between $1300-1500 PER speaker to get them back to the way they left the factory.
Based on that, today he offered them to me for FREE. Of course, since I'm NOT in LA, shipping would have been $$$ and I recently bought another pair. So, I told him that there is no way that fixing the crossovers could possibly cost that much and referred him to Westmassguy.
I don't know if there are other problems that I'm unaware of, but it looks like he also put them on ebay for a whopping $30 and they are already sold.
I wonder what is going on inside those speakers...
