I am thinking of getting a AVR505 to drive my Lsi setup. Does anyone have experience with this receiver. Am I better off getting something like the 505 or Rotel seperates? These are the two paths I have considered.

I traveled this road and I felt B&K was the better of the 2.I feel B&K is a class and really is above Rotel.Comparing the B&K avr505 or 507 to Rotel seperates will suprise you.If you think receiver can't compete with seperates,do that demo...and be shocked.
Rotel is a fine Product. You will even spend les with Rotel. There seperates are cheaper then B&K's receiver.B&K seperates blow the Rotel out of the water as far as price.Sound quality now gets even further away.
Rotel is a great choice here as well.Leave B&K out of the picture and I can't think of a better company in there price class that would be a better choice.Rotel makes killer amps. There preamps are more on the basic side but simple is better most of the time.
B&K rules for Preamps.Even the new RSP1098 doesn't hold a candle to the awesome ref50.....same price.
But as I always say,it's up 2 you.Ask for an opnion and get one you will.Mine will always be honest and true to the gut ....feeling that is.....B&K is a better product.

So, in summation you think the B&K 505 will give me a better sound than rotel seperates. Correct? Does anyone else have an opinion on this?Receiver: B&K AVR505

I think there are other choices and you need to get out and demo as many of them as you can. Look at the following:
Parasound HCA or even better, the Halo line
Conrad-Johnson
Sunfire
Aragon
Bryston
B&K and Rotel make good gear, but there is better.Political Correctness'.........defined

I am limited monetarily. I suspect most of the brands you have mentioned would cost well above my limit. The reason I was trying to decide between the rotel seperates and the B&K 505 was that I can get the Rotels for like 2k and the 505 for 1700. What is my best bet in the price range under 2k, to drive the Lsis? I thought that 1700 for a barely used 505 was a pretty good deal. I appreciate any suggestions.Receiver: B&K AVR505

If you are using 2K as a price mark, than that drops Parasound out of the running.
The B&K offers upgrades, and to me that is invaluable. I vote B&K.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Rookie,
Ok, price points always help. I would still suggest (if you can) to demo the two units you're interested in. Also, a great way to get more for less is buy used, look on www.audiogon.com and check out www.audioreview.com to see what others have to say.Political Correctness'.........defined

If you can get the avr505 for 1700.00.............no brainer here.Just buy and don't look back
Thats a killer price I would buy it myself. It retails for 3500.00.
**** slightly used better slighty broke in for you........Dan
