Just got back from seeing the 3D version. TOTAL BADASS!!! I absolutely loved it. All of the characters get plenty of screen time to kick ****.

Sit through the credits for some extras.
No excuses!

Absolutely loved it. Simply great how just as others said. Each character gets plenty of screen time. Hulk shined IMO and my god were the scenes towards the end great with him. Funny and action packed. Everyone was great. "And hulk................smash"

You said it BAF, Hulk was simply phenomenal in this movie! This IS the Hulk I always wanted to see in a movie. When Capt America told him that...then Hulk smiled...tell me that one scene didn't make you feel like the biggest kid in the entire theater! When he smiled I was like..."OH SH**, here it comes!!!"

    Scarlett Johansson was SMOKIN!!!

I've seen a LOT of movies, leaning more towards indies than hollywood, but I can't remember the last time I anticipated a movie like this and wanting to see it in the theater. Counting the months, watching the individual movies, staying through the credits to get a peek at the Avengers storyline...and it all payed off BIG! It may not be the greatest movie I've ever seen but this is, quite possibly, the best time I've ever had at the movies, with the exception of maybe Jaws or Star Wars. THIS is what the movie-going experience should be. Michael Bay must be PISSED as THIS is the kind of movie he WANTS to make but doesn't have the chops.

I missed Ed Norton as the Hulk, but his replacement does admirably. I thought Tony Stark was going to steal the show but I was really impressed at how Joss Whedon was able to get the characters to mesh so well. Each had their moments to shine and I got the sense that they were compelled to unite rather than have a plot that just throws them together for the wow factor but with no sustenance. I really believed their teamwork at the end and event felt a little patriotic. There were so many opportunities to cheese out in this movie but the director wisely sidesteps these temptations and rises above them. For example, I think a lesser director would have gone over the top with Capt. America's "fish-out-of-water" existence but Whedon focuses on Capt's. ability to lead in a time of crisis instead of going for the obvious time-period awkwardness.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to re-capture that child-like joy of "going out to the movies." This will be one tough movie to beat on that accomplishment alone.

There are Non-3D versions? I thought 3-D was part of the marketing on this?

In any case, I may get a view today or not depending on how much time it takes me to buy some clothes for my daughter (bottomless credit card, here, lol). I'm trying to get her to accompany me to the film, but she's not really a fan!

Glad to hear the "initial" (Polkie) reviews are good. But I miss our in-house critic (the guy named after the steak, you know!). Just kidding!

3D was actually worth it towards the end such as the action scenes.

Strong, you are totally right about him saying that. I did have a smile on my face.

I'm not sure what else to add besides what an incredible riot of a great movie! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, soaking it all in, being taken on that hugely entertaining journey with the superheros. The Hulk was just spot on, as well as the other characters. The great action scenes combined with well-timed, side-splitting humor, all held together with enough plot to make sense, made it an instant favorite, and an instant buy when it's released.

This was "hands down" the best movie I have seen on the big screen in a very long time! The 3d IMAX was not over the top, so you didn't feel like you were reading a pop up book. The S.H.E.I.L.D. carrier was awesome! The story line was entertaining from start to end, and the action scenes were easy to follow unlike the Transformers fast paced close up style. This movie was by far the best Hulk movie yet! I'd like to see more Hulk movies that follow this director's vision. Definitely made my weekend! A+

Saw it over the weekend, while good, didn't get that OMG feeling. They did a great job of keeping everything moving along and giveing each superhero their time on screen, but something was missing and I can't put my finger on it. The 3d effect I thought was just so so. I was expecting to be wowed, and wasn't for some reason.

Just got back from seeing Avengers in Imax 3D.
I'll start by saying this was a excellent movie and worth going back to see again. Story wise flowed very well , I was very happy with this. Action was amazing and spot on for each Hero. I was very impressed with the Hulk and Thor roles especially their battle , very well done and funny 2.

3D was very good and as well done as I have seen it used. Yeah it still blurred here and there and the glass I complete hate. I think they should use Oakley or Ray ban to make more comfortable models. Take away the completely flat approach and give them some curve. Our heads are round not flat. What I really found to be an issue was I could see the projector in the top right of my glasses , it was very annoying and I wanted to take them off.

If I go see this again , I'm going 2 D which will take away some of the awesome depth 3D brings but I won't have to wear the glasses and be uncomfortable for 2 and a half hours.

Iron Man and Captain America made a good team and their interaction was great. Even Bruce Banner was excellent even though I wished it was Edward Norton.

You need to see Thor to fully understand the movie. I suggest to anyone before going to see it , watch Thor and get the back story. If you didn't see Thor , you wouldn't get all the things they talked about and made references to. The whole movie was based around the 2 brothers from Osgod.

I also saw this in IMAX 3D and it was awesome. Lots of laughs, lots of cheeze, lots of action, but also lots of story. The 3D effect for me was very good but not as good as Avatar IMAX 3D. It was perhaps the quickest 2 1/2 hour movie I've ever seen which means I was thoroghly entertained the whole time. One of the best comic to movie adaptations I've seen yet.
