... Out the corner of my eye I immediately recognized the Lsim707 pair. I ran outside to my car to grab my demo disk I take with me everywhere and WOW! They were powered by a Cambridge integrated amp 40 wpc the salesman told me. ...

Even the hybrid integrated JoLida 1301 (tube pre & solid state amplifier section) will probably power these very well. I've only tried it with bigger RT range speakers, but the new LSi M range are 8 ohms. It's under $400 new, and comes up used (very rarely, however) for $200-300 or thereabouts. It's quite an impressive piece for 30W/ch, and the tube element adds some extra intrigue into the mix.

I went into American in Rockford Il and auditioned the lsim707s. I went there to look for some new furniture and stopped by the electronics dept. B lined to the Focals. Out the corner of my eye I immediately recognized the Lsim707 pair. I ran outside to my car to grab my demo disk I take with me everywhere and WOW! They were powered by a Cambridge integrated amp 40 wpc the salesman told me. Please have money in hand, make the drive, and buy these speakers! They murder my 15s! The only problem American would not budge on the price!
Just wanted to say thanks. Bought a pair of Towers and money in hand was a big benefit. With there sale the 705's were $2400 but they didn't have the cherry finish in stock. They quoted me up to six weeks for the special order cherry 705's. I told them I'd pass as I could get them for the same price online in a week. So as I'm walking out he said he could give them to me for $2199 because of the long wait so I bought them. Hopefully they'll only take a week or so to come.
I did listen to the 707's and Cambridge setup they had and they sounded fantastic. Nice detailed sound stage without a hint of brightness. The bass was on point, nice and tight. -
Something that is frequently overlooked: affordable quality from a Cambridge or NAD integrated will power these big speakers in ways nobody might expect, even with just 40W/ch. It's a far more suitable approach, in my opinion, than throwing something like a budget brand amplifier into the mix just to have bragging rights on 200W/ch, and very cost effective too ...

They had the Cambridge 650a hooked up to it and with only 75 watts it did the job. -

Can you give a more detailed review of the 705's. I am thinking about buying a pair but need more info. I currently have the rti a9 and want to make sure the upgrade is worth it.
Thanks -
Just picked them up yesterday and still waiting on my amp and pre to come. Once everything is here ill post a review. I've owned the a9's for years and these are in a different league, both musically and for home theater.
