You've got a good attitude and that's half the battle. I hope you win the other half.

You have got our prayers, good thoughts, and you are on our list, trust me its a good one.

Its terrible having something wrong in your gut, a whole different kind of pain experience.

Dont have any advice on treatments or diet advice, but it sounds like you have a lot of good advice, here and from docs.

    good luck,

Have you had any tests done to see if your allergic to gluten?

No because there isnt any abdominal pain, but there is lots of internal inflammation and intestinal wall thickening throughout my lower GI. The colonoscopy I had in December showed it, the pain is much farther down (thats as much as I will say ). I have discussed that thought with my Dr but due to the ulcers and inflammation in my system in December we felt I was having a flare, not something like gluten allergies.

It was something we did consider though.

cnh: the tests in Dec ruled out any infections they were looking for (c-diff, etc) but thats what we initially thought it was. Doesnt mean what I am dealing with now isnt an infection though. I have my own thoughts on the matter, but no proof to back them up right now.

I have been gaining and dropping weight for about 3 years from 200 at my heaviest to 140 my normal weight to all kinds of places in-between. My wife hates me for that .

deron: right now my body doesnt want food, which is common with Crohns disease, or is at times at least for me. I also have had something I have been fighting with my throat and for the last 4 days swallowing food hurts really bad. I went to the Dr on that and its not strep or pneumonia so there wasnt much they could do for me lol. I have been drinking lots of Gatorade and will probably pick up some boosts and chicken broth and soft type foods (like breakfast foods, apple sauce, etc)

Prayers sent to you and your wife.

Rather than Gatorade, I would recommend coconut water and drinks like Bolthouse Farms as there are way more vitamins and minerals in them than Gatorade. Gatorade is mostly a couple types of sugar with very little nutritional value and does very little for rehydration. If your body can hang with Bolthouse Farms and Odwalla. Not as cheap, but much better in what you are trying to accomplish. Take care of yourself.

Took at look at both those, dont think its something I would want to try. I am also drinking lots of Crystal Light at home, the Gatorade is mostly for work and its much better than my normal Diet Mountain Dew, so while not the "best" its still better than what I was drinking before.

Errrrr....Enders, I think you have the wrong Joe because I don't have any illness or disease of any kind. I read your pm and the only thing I can recommend right now is switching to a complete Raw Vegan diet. I am not a 100% Vegan but rather 60% or so. There is plenty of literature available on the subject and it seems to solve a lot of health problems. It's been close to 2 years that I've changed my lifestyle (eating properly and exercising) and I have not been sick once, despite working with the public and with virtually every co-worker falling sick around me at various times.

As soon as you get out of this "slump" and get better, I suggest you view the experience as a wake-up call and make the lifestyle change that is required in order to bring you into your golden years and be as healthy as possible. We all have a limited amount of time on this earth, and even though we may be hit with a debilitating disease whether we do it "right" or not, I'd rather put the chances on my side and do it "right" and not have to look back and say I coulda or I shoulda.

Joe my bad lol. We are trying to eat more lean meat like range free bison and cage free chickens and get organic when possible. Beyond that my diet is mostly carbs and meat and I don't think I could eliminate meat.

PS it was Joe08867 I got you confused with lol

My friend's pain was also in his joints, legs, bottom of his feet, knees, shoulders, basically when he eats gluten all his joints swell up and his has the runs and abdominal pains as well. he was a mess.

Most of that isn't applicable but I will ask anyway.

All i can say us it's bad when your wife spends 60 bucks on over the counter meds in one visit

Ender I feel your Pain about 2 years ago I came down with a "mystery" GI illness that struck out of no where one night and went on for over a year straight. It felt like I swallowed razors, glass and epicac all at the same time the pain was constant 24/7 I thought I was dying and even contemplated doing myself in , the pain was that bad. By the time the GI specialist scoped me all he could say was severe duedonitis. I have finaly started getting better but I swear GI pain is the worst. I still dont know what caused it, could have been allergies, Parasites, Chemicals I just dont know. I just want to say hang in there and stay positive it will get better.

Got out and have waited to post till I am a bit less foggy. They didnt find any abscess's however they found a cavity they believe one was in and one that appeared to have been draining on its own.

My wife just left to pick up the meds they want me on (flagly, norco, and an antibiotic cream) so hopefully those will help. I am supposed to setup an appointment to see the surgeon in 2 weeks and my GI Dr wanted me to call him tomorrow as well so I will be talking to him. It appears my pain was due to the fact that the empty cavity was directly between the two muscles you use to go. They gave me a shot of numbing meds there, put some medicine in me for right now so I should be able to sleep a full night for the first time in about 2 weeks.

Still have to figure out how I am getting to work and back since I cant drive while on Norco.... but I have tomorrow off work to relax a bit and as of right now I feel great (but anesthesia + dilaudid + norco will do that to you)

Joe, no need for the PM now, but I am going to talk to my GI about your suggestion of Mirilax every night before bed.

I was aware of that and even if I wasn't it wouldn't matter as I don't drink at all anymore. Inflammation + liquor = ridiculous pain.

I think the last time I had a drink was 2010 if not 2009.........

When I was going through my GI stuff I quit drinking entirely for that year but as I began to feel better the old habbit came back...I need to lay off completley. I heard you can get an over growth of yeast in your intestines from too much beer:eek: Don't know how accurate that is though.
