    Iowa City and no Slipknot?

Ha! Not at that show, a little before they hit. I was never a huge Slipknot fan, however I have seen them live a handfull of times. I remember spotting a racing seat behind the drumset with a harness, and wondering what that was for. Very cool drum performance. I'd find a link if I wasn't on the work computer.

Late 60's, Headliner was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band playing at a small venue called The Frog Hop in St. Joseph,Mo.

Opening act was a guy that came out on stage carrying a folding chair and banjo, he wore a hat with an arrow protruding through each side of it. aka Steve Martin.

    It was a great concert.

    Bachman turner overdrive, 74-75?.

    Bob Seger opened.

    OR

Same time frame, brownsville station, cant remember who opened.

Both of these were when it was still okay for fans to rush to the front of the stage at beginning of show, and stay there for show.

Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin in NYC. Before they both died.

That must have been Grand, George. I'm sure they put on much better shows before they died rather than after.:lol:

Oh, and mine was David Lee Roth at the Oakland Coluseum in 1988. I was 16 and my best friend Seth and I looked forward to seeing Steve Vai play Eruption in double time. It was a good show. Unfortunately, Poison was the opening band. That could have been better.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Whoa! good bands. That must have been the original JBG line up with Rod Stewart, Ron Wood on bass and the late, great Micky Waller on drums. "Truth" is still one of my favorite albums.

My first was Blood Sweat and Tears, The Chambers Brothers, + a couple of bands I can't think of right now. UNC-CH used to have a spring festival called Jubilee at which they would have 3-5 famous bands every year. In 1971 I saw the Allman Brothers Band (original line up with Duane and Berry), the J Geils Band when they still did quality blues, + a couple of others I can't think of right now.

FTR, first concert was "The Ozzy Osbourne Band" and UFO at the Baltimore Civic Center. My stub says April 20, 1982, but that doesn't seem to match up with some of the tour date lists online. That was only weeks after Rhoads' death, and I can't remember if it might have been rescheduled to another date. I'm positive that Brad Gillis had joined Ozzy by then. A great time!

My mom and dad dropped a friend and me off before the show, and when he picked us up, I remember him saying, "You guys smell like weed!" We hadn't smoked any, but I guess the air was permeated. I never did ask him how he know knew what it smelled like, since I'd never imagined that he'd been around it...
