This is why America is in such turbulent times, many people are sick and tired of the idiocy. Everything is politically motivated, and nothing is common sense motivated, or designed to be truly successful. It's all a dog-n-pony show, as well as an exercise in covering your ****. We let the minority rule the majority, because they cry the loudest. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, everytime.

Beats doing nothing. Of course, looking the other way makes for a stress-free existence. Maybe the message will finally sink-in for someone, and instead of sitting around letting life happen to them--they'll find the motivation to shape their life.

The only non-rational(irrational)thing taking place here is to bury your head in the sand and pretend the world is all sugarplums and daisies. You have stated yourself that the actions of the school were stupid, so I would ask then that you follow the breadcrumbs here and see that the system that would allow this to occur is also broken, then ask why. If you look plainly at the facts before you, you will likely find that what you have been led to believe is not the truth.

I have come to believe that it is easier keep drinking the Koolaide if you don't know that somebody pissed in it.

I don't know if anyone responded to ya, but honestly, if you raise beats for slaughter, you ought to use every single bit of them possible. The real shame with processed meats is the use of stabilizers to give it a different texture. However, it's no different from hamburger or any sausages.

Now then, I'll still be voting for Ron Paul in the primaries. I'll make my decision for the general election sometime later. I do agree with his assertion that our military spending is not providing a good national defense--and neither are agencies like the the DHS or TSA.

I agree that we should try to use every bit possible. However, I find it idiotic that the school would say that a turkey sandwich is unhealthy then force chicken nuggets on the kids instead. The school nutritionist should be fired.

The master removed 1 link of the dog's long chain every week, tethering the dog almost an imperceptible measure of distance closer to the doghouse.

After a few years, the day arrived when just a link or two were left and the dog couldn't move.

I think it's time we carefully consider how many of these metaphorical links we U.S. Dogs have left.

There is a lot of stupid things that happen every single day but it is kind of funny to watch people get so bent out of shape over issues they have no control over, why waste your time and energy? perhaps they feel the need to vent because their own life's are unmanageable? not sure what the reason/s are. As far as I know the OP doesn't even have kids of their own.

I agree what happened is silly but face it there will always be stupid things happening and there will always be plenty of stupid people to ensure this doesn't end. I say pick your battles, if you cant change something then don't let it bother you. But WE DO have control over the issues! It's the people who sit back and do nothing who have allowed this environment to be created; and in a strange paradox, are usually the ones that **** the most.

This is at the very core of the problem. We sit back and think "meh...there a little group of peons--they're a minority---no need to worry about that issue, it'll NEVER happen."

Guess how many "it'll never happen", have happened in the past 20 years? Because these tiny groups KNOW the general popultion (the majority) are complacent and lazy about these (seemingly) dumb little issues. We're letting the tail wag the dog--and it's our own fault.

Did you ever think 20 years ago, that a kindergarten student would be charged with a sex crime? You, like I, would have laughed our asses off at such a story. It's already happened. It's just the tip of the iceberg, baby.

When I have guests at my house, and the topic of politics comes up---the first thing I ask is "do you vote?" If they respond "no" I tell them I'm not the least bit interested in their opinion, because they simply don't matter.

It is the "who cares" mentality that will eventually lead to nothing left to care about.

I don't have kids yet, but it does not mean that I shouldn't care about the kind of country the children of others inherit from us. My kids will come, and when they do, they will be raised to question with boldness, and to dig deep to find the truth.

In this particular case Steve I have absolutely no control over what happened, I don't even live in the same state let alone school district, The only possible thing I could do is send an email with my complaints about how the issue was handled to the school, I cant change it, if things local to me bother me enough then certainly I will do whatever I can in my power to make the changes needed, but I am not going to get all upset about a incident thousands of miles away from me that I have no control over. I could spend my entire day looking up silly events that have happened around the globe and making phone calls and sending emails all for naught.

My whole point is pick your battles, there isn't enough time in the day to fight them all. I would have to say a full 75% of the people I meet on a daily basis don't know how to do their job properly, of the remaining 25% only 5% do it very well. Incompetency is rampant at all levels in all walks of life not sure I can fix that.

I absolutely agree with you that everyone should get involved and not be complacent about issues that concern them locally and even nationally if one can, vote for who you believe will follow through on their promises and stand for what you believe in and if they don't follow through vote them out.

In the 2008 Presedential election, only 63% (very high by comparison) of registered voters turned out to vote. To me, that's sad. Keep in mind, that's 63% of Americans who even bothered to register to vote; imagine what that number really means when you look at the complete population (including those that didn't register to vote) of the U.S.

This is why most people are shaking their heads in disbelief, They're not realizing how many people are not offering their opinion by way of voting.

Sounds like manipulation. I see and hear it everywhere down there... not trying to start a war here but I find that America brainwashes people in ways.

What needs to happen is for parents to go take back their schools from the
tin plated gods running them. I have had some head-butting with some schools in the past, but
the problem is you can't get to the guys running the place. So bitching about stuff ends up
just pissing off the low guys on the totem pole. Pushing a string uphill is a tough task.

Actually, I think school districts should have a school nutritionist. Basically some parents don't have time to make a home lunch so they allow their children to buy it. The school nutritionist's one-and-only job is to ensure the school's menu has nutritious foods for kids and parents to choose from. That should be it. Parents should always have the right to choose whether or not a kid eats a home packed lunch or school lunch. Many schools also provide menus to parents to help them choose. And I think parents have a right to limit a kid's purchase from that menu (so kids just don't spend money on snacks). I think all that is great. However, this thread's parent story is about a school nutritionist saying they can overrule a parents choice, that is simply wrong. The parent should always have the only say in a kid's lunch choice.

Actually no, in this economy most families have to have both parents working so it's usually not a viable option. I want our existing school system fixed.
