When the hell will D4000.4 hit the market??

So i've been waiting for it since the first mentioning of Polk's full range class D amps.
The rest of the line up is out for sale for a few months now but for some mystical reason 4000.4 is not.

I called Polk in October to ask why D4000.4 isn't out yet while rest of class D's are and got an answer "don't worry, we just run into a small delay, it will be out in as early as November"
Then i called in November and was told it'll be out by in December, then "around X-mas/New years". It's end of January and still no word on availability or a reason why it's not available. Not that i expect Polk to email me a full report on this delay haha but i mean c'mon, can someone from Polk just say SOMETHING on this?? All i hear is bs as time shows and no representative can tell me anything more then "small delay, will be out very soon"

Man thats weird. I thought they were all out on the market already. Wonder what's causing the hold up.

    Here's Polk store's link - "currently unavailable"
Not sure when they changed it but it was "available" for a while but every time you call and ask a direct question "do you REALLY have it in stock right now and can ship out today/tomorrow if i pay for it right now" they give you a runaround of "will be available as soon as next month...."

    http://shop.polkaudio.com/products/PA-D4000.4-4-CH-CAR-AMP.html

And honestly at this point when Polk is simply being quiet and PPI came out with what seems to be the same exact amp but in a different casing I can't stop to wonder if PPI's amp is really the same exact one (in a different casing) but costs a lot less....
I don't mind paying a bit more for the same product but with POLK's name on it since rest of my equipment is POLK but at some point (like NOW lol) i'd really like to know if i should keep on waiting for a certain period of time or if i should just get PPI and stop this mindfukk.

    Hello,
I checked with Polk's sales folks and the amp will be available on their site tomorrow. You can call them directly and place an order today if you want a day's jump.

Don't like that dealer. I've heard nothing but bad things about them over the years. Receiving DOA gear and taking forever to get it resolved, crappy treatment from CS in general, taking forever to ship and so on. I'd rather wait til they hit Crutchfield even if its a few bucks more. I've even heard they wont warranty anything if you install it yourself and you have to have a receipt from a certified installer before they'll honor it.

I may wind up having to buy from them tho. I need to buy a PA250.2 to replace my dead 250.2 and OCS is the only place you can get one.

I've never heard a single bad thing about them. And my personal experience with returning products was absolutely awesome. Had a set of components that I blew out a tweeter. They didn't have any more in stock, so they gave me the FULL price of the item I had bought 10 months earlier as a gift certificate to buy anything I wanted from them.

And they're an authorized dealer for Polk. So if you have any warranty issues, send it to Polk.

You're literally the first person I've heard that's had a good experience with them. Just a quick Google search brings up:

A 1 star rating out of 93 reviews

A 3.5 star rating out of 106 reviews

    A short list of complaints

A 3 star rating out of 83 reviews

A 2 star review out of 27 reviews

I've never bought anything from them but these are the things I've read and heard about. Contrast that with Crutchfield which gets rave reviews everywhere. If you'll guarantee them Cody, Ill by the 250.2 from them.

I don't follow car audio much anymore, just going by experience from a few years ago. When I was on a few car audio boards, I had literally never seen a complaint by anyone on the boards.

Maybe things have changed. I can say, when I buy new amps, I will not hesitate to buy from them.

Who knows. Virtually all those complaints were about trying to return stuff and not getting anywhere with them. I guess youre fine unless you get a DOA piece of gear and need to return it but youre right that with them being an authorized Polk retailer, if the amp was DOA, theyd take care of it for me.

I tried ordering the 250.2 from online car stereo two weeks ago and it was backordered, they told me it was backordered untill last wednesday, so I cancelled and bought it elsewhere. I did get my mm 6501's and 1040 from there and they shipped it fast, havnt had the chance to try them out yet but packaging was perfectly intact.

Where did you get it from? Polk shows them not in stock and I have a feeling theyve been axed so they wont be popping back up again. The $140 on OCN was hard to resist.

Not the end of the world. I can always use my old Alpine 75x2 or maybe my Crossfire 50x4 (100x2) instead.

Discountcentralonline.com via amazon. Shipped from cali to wyo in 4 days. Havn't installed it yet but it looks to be fine. Still waiting on speaker wire shipped via fedex, ordered the same day as the 250.2.

I was told the same thing when I called.
2 days later (figured will give them an extra day) and it's still not available.

And for all those other sites selling it - this amp was on Polk's site some time ago as well but then they took it down due to unavailability. I think dealers got a notice of this amp and everyone rushed to advertise it on their web-sites but then amp never came in and they simply didn't take it down from their sites.
What Im saying is that I do not believe any of them actually have it in stock.

Today is a week after I (and Kenneth Swauger) was told by Polk's rep that D4000.4 will be available on Polk's web site and on to rest of dealers.

Once again not true. As I mentioned in my first post I was told "it will be out very soon" every time I called since October.
Currently unavailable. Please check back soon!

Just curious but you've already got the 500.4 and 1200.1 which is a pant load of power. Why are you wanting to ditch them in favor of the D's?

Part of it is that i want to know what class D really is. There's lots of good reviews on them as well as lots of bad ones.
Other part is that I've had PA amps for a while now and kinds feel like I want to try something else. NOt because I do not like PAs, I do but i just want something different on i guess....

Biggest one tho is the size of new class Ds. Look at pics i posted earlier - I would absolutely love to have 100% stealth install like that.

I hear ya dude. I'm the same way with my PC. I upgrade parts all the time for no other reason really than to have a new toy to player with. LOL.

If you can't wait, might as well jump on those PPI's. I'm sure they're the exact same amp since they're both DEI companies.

I just ordered one from Amazon (aka Caraudiodeals.com) last night. Stock went down from 4 to 3, and when I checked the order status it said "packaging."

I'll update when it changes to "shipped" and when I actually receive it, but to me these are pretty good indicators so far.

FYI the same exact amp but in PPI's casing was just $203 shipped form Sonix not too long ago.

And that's another thing - Polk charges $100 more for the same item as PPI sells lol. I know PPI went to crap after DEI bought it but realisticly nowadays Polk isn't "high end" either. In this case paying msrp of over $100 more goes for nothing more then a name. Just saying....
