So, you can't even test the fuse and yet you're still asking for help on how to fix it. Hello!

If the fuse would have popped out, I could have just bought more and tried them. No need to test it. Now that Ive seen its soldered on, I will have to take further steps in getting it looked at or serviced. Hello!!!!

Chances are the tuner works... and those Sonys had pretty good tuners in 'em. If it's not emitting smoke :-P or getting hot anywhere internally (or, jeepers, externally) take the tuner outputs from the "tape out" jacks and use it as a very good analog stereo FM tuner.

Good Idea, I will try that tonight. Thanks

Well, I DID look on ebay to see what that unit goes for. So I feel a little better that I did in fact help a lil' wee bit. lol If you think Joe's response was rude you need some thicker skin. He was simply stating the obvious. But anyway, I am done. As I said before...good luck to ya!

I see Kip at AK asked you basically the same question I did,
Do you have a DMM (digital multi-meter) to check continuity?

When/if you tell him no, he'll probably tell you he can't help you any further and to sell it.

As for a strong following on that receiver, you need to keep in mind that just about every receiver has a strong following on AK. Some, perhaps even most, there think that a receiver is as good as it gets. Of course, it is not. Therefore, I would take those strong following comments with a grain of salt.

Since you own a soldering iron, you could have removed the fuse, bought a new one and soldered it in. Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they have a following (and it is probably a fairly small one) -- the value in those ol' Sony Rxs is in their considerably-better-than-average tuners.

Not worth all the hassle in my book. Lots of vintage receivers had 4 and 5 gang tuners, nothing overly special about the Sony's. For what a repair shop will charge you, you could probably pick up another working vintage receiver off of craigslist.

Sorry about that. I don't think George ships. But maybe you could convince someone in N.J. to pick up for you and ship?

Otherwise, CList and ebay. I just picked up an old HK 430 at a decent price on the 'bay.

    Good Luck!

That is good. With your attitude, you wouldn't be doing any shopping here anyhow.

    Listed, heavily.

Why would anyone buy a receiver which is broken, and doesn't own a meter or know how to use it?

And it's worth $100 bucks if it worked. I'm confused was you drunk or on drugs, when you got it?

Look in the mirror there buddy.
