LSI M 703 Midwest demo
Well I'm the third Midwest Polkie to try out the new Polk LSI M 703's bookshelf speaker and want to see who else in
the Midwest would be interested in these puppies. I've had them for a week now and will be passing them along
to Timothy Smith next week. Tim is in Oconomowoc Wi which is about 2 hours from Chicago/Rockford and 25 minutes from Milwaukee. Unlike the other demos where Mark was overseeing the operation this demo is a handoff preferred
and is our responsibility to get them passed on in a timely and safely fashion. I will be posting my review on the product page. Speak up Midwest Polkies
Thanks again Mark and Polk Audio for making this happen for us.

I live in Eau Claire WI, about 90 min East of the Twin Cities. I would definitely be up to giving the 703's a test-run in my 2 channel room. Let me know if it would work out somehow.
Thanks -

send a PM to SCompRacer as I know he was interested originally, but his schedule was messed up. That might have changed since."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Well, ideally Chicago makes more sense, more Polkies in that area but since no one wants them then why not send them your way. It's not my call so you should contact Timothy Smith ( next person up) and see if you two can hook up. I would also send Mark a PM. -
I'm half way between Eau Claire and where Tim lives and would be willing to demo them as well if that would be cool. That way you wouldn't have to drive as far and I could also get my ears on them. Mark said he was cool with me doing the demo as long as we worked it out.

Lost this thread in the last couple days, having found it... is there any news on plans for the speakers?

Tim, Chris, than You. Dropping them off to Tim tomorrow. -
Make sure you guys have the gear to run these. I don't want poorly constructed demos to happen because you're trying to run them on a Fisher Price stereo.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Parasound Halo pre amp/amp (2 channel)
Shotgun S3 cables
Pioneer Elite SC (HT)
Jolida 100 CDP
Oppo 93
Nothing hi end but fits in line with the Polks. -
Sounds good, is Chris cstmar01? Also, I would be running them off Carver separates, a couple large integrateds (Sony ES, Yamaha DSP) and a big ol' Sherwood thats much older than I am.
Thanks for the update -
Now that things have settled down for me a bit (moving, new employment, etc...) I would like to get on this as well. I now reside in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. About half-way between Dubuque, IA, and LaCrosse. If they ever get over this way please let me know! (B&K, btw)Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

Hey, you guys need to be talking about a handoff here....who can shuttle and demo them from PA at this time? If you folks work together, they can probably move pretty fast and at the same time, allow you a demo of something SUPER new and exclusive.
This is a rare opportunity guys, seriously, please put forth the effort that we do behind the scenes to get this stuff available to you. You won't find any other manufacturer rolling the amount of gear we do to strangers, period.
This is our little family here and we care about you, it's time to step out of the box and give a little, get a little.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
This is Wisconsin not PA.

yes my real name is Chris. I'm running the Parasound stuff in my HT and then Adcom 5802 and gfp 750 in the two channel. -
Timothy Smith currently has the speakers and we arraged that we will be meeting up and I will pick up the speakers from him. Looks like for me it will be Dec 10th when I get a chance to drive and meet him and then onto Mr. Globe. I will update once I get them, and will try to have them sooner if possible but I can not with work being the way it is right now forsee that happening.

Any chance these could make it near the Twin Cities,Mn. 55119 area? I would assume I am not the only Polky in Mn.? I would be up to hand off to next bud. Thanks. Picking these up right now as I type this. Woot woot!

Awesome! I'm excited to hear your thoughts
-
so wow. I really like these. From the build to the sound I really dig em. For me I normally don't care for bookshelf's as I find they lack bass and sound thin to me after using floorstanders all the time, however I would really consider buying these if I decide to get a pair of monitors. The things are huge and lot bigger than I thought they were going to be.
So far had them set up with my HT system that I had the SDA SRS's in. Soundstage isn't as large but that is a normal given. However they sound great and image like mad and love it. Some Damien Rice and The National sounded great. Next stop is going into the main 2 channel that my Carver's currently sit in.
I really would like to see how the floor models sound as I think I found a good next speaker for myself. I still want a little more bass however these do sound great for a bookshelf and really do a great job.
I'll put up a better review when I get a chance but they look and sound great to me! -
did these make it to Chicago at all?design is where science and art break even.

If these things make it to michigan someone pm me.

They started in Michigan. -
Great to hear your initial impressions! I have to say I'm getting pretty excited to hear them eventually. Keep us posted about their move to the 2 ch room, I can't imagine they'll fill the Carver's shoes, but it will be interesting to hear how they perform.
-
-
I'm not sure if they've already moved on or what the plan is, but I'm still up to meet for a speaker hand-off whenever you're available cstmar01.
-
Who has these? Any movement?
-
cstmar01 still has the 703's. He PM'd me on 2-16-12 about meeting up, but unfortunately that weekend was not going to work for me. I haven't heard back on which weekend would work for him, but I'll PM him again now and let him know I'm available pretty much any night after 6pm or any almost any upcoming weekend.

Dabutcher and I would definitely be interested in checking this out if we can get them up to the Twin Cities (MN) somehow. I know of at least 3 other Polkies in the area who I'm guessing would be interested in checking them out if they were around as well.
MrGlobe - if you're in Western Wisconsin, meeting up would be fairly easy. Let us know what we need to do to get next in line!
