I dont think he is wanting to sell these anymore - he bought all the woofers from the 3000p subs...

Now I could be wrong, just throwing it out there since he has not responded

Yeah, sorry guys. I wrote a message to bsoko (the only person that was truly interested in the whole system) regarding the sale being put on hold. My plans for consolidating my systems have changed. I will update if the situation changes.

Since everything is on hold, I'm going in another direction too. Going with JTR Quintuple 8's for the mains and center for now and will add more for surrounds down the road. Sent the amps on the 3000p's out for rebuild to Polk. Sometime in a few months will have this RT5000p system for sale using a set of RT55's for the mains on the sub cabs. Sale will be for local to Olympia, WA.

Anybody have any ideas for rebuild a set of RT3000p's? I have a complete RT5000P (2 RT3000P, CS1000, fx1000,s), but the RT3000p have bad amps and 2 drivers are blown.

Call 1-800-377-7655. This is the Polk Service Center and they will give you the address and h ow to get your 3000p amps repaired. Aslo ask about those drivers.

I've heard a lot about those JTR's. They look impressive. I really like the the use of compression drivers as in my Emmy's. Hope to hear a setup of these someday/

Polk does not repair these amplifiers anymore.

    Doro,

I called and was told that they do repair them. I was given a address to send them to in Vista, CA. Who does repair them?

OK, sorry, misinterpreted the email I was sent months ago. They can repair them depending on the problem but if it cannot be fixed, it's a done deal. They are also not available to buy new or to be replaced with an older repaired model as the old stock they used to have is officially gone. I believe I picked up the last pair of amps awhile back, just to have handy.

If you contact Polk for repair, please remember to insure them for $700. This is verbatim from Kim Jasper, Polk Customer Service.

Given the fact that that parts & repair options through polk are becoming more limited, perhaps we could start to compose what we have/know about them as far as repairs and replacements go. One of our members was kind enough to take the t/s measurements of the sub drivers which i know are very rare. The MW8500's were not used in any other model, so it the t/s measurements could be very valuable as there are no know existing design papers on them (per Polk Customer Service, 2010). Finding a good replacement may become valuable to some in the future.

Also, It may be worth listing known issues and possible fixes. I know that there have been a couple reoccurring issues listed on various threads and forums regarding a 60 cycle hum; some unclear issues with the LED's; occasionally the standby mode has problems on units; the caps, like anything, invariably need to be replaced at some point; etc. Although the problems are few and far between, I feel the quality of the system along with the lack of a cohesive resource elswhere, warrants a dedicated sticky IMO

With parts getting rare on these have you thought about going a different route and just doing away with powered towers? You might have to spend more coin but im sure there's something out there that'll satisfy you. I've never heard
the 5000 system in my home other than rt55's but I would be very hesitant to buy something with parts getting extinct. Wonder if the TC sounds epic 8 could fit in the same whole as the stock drivers?

If it were me and those amps died - I would rip them out, get an aluminum plate put on the back and I would go with an external dayton sub amp to power the subs, just me...

You will have a hard time finding aftermarket drivers for those subs based off the t/s parameters I took - odd numbers for sure...

The enclosure would work perfect for some Epic 8 woofers with some re-engineering and maybe some cut out mods

What is such a big deal with these amps? They were built using discrete components, so should be fairly easy to repair for any qualified technician. I fixed two RT1000p amps a couple of years ago, if I remember correctly one was humming, the other wasn't powering up. Both lived happily ever after. You can always find similar (even better) parts for discrete electronic components if you know what the original part was.

For me, I've got enough spare parts for quite a long time. I'm just thinking about for others. I know I've done a lot of work on mine and i just thought it could be helpful. I know there are others, like vr3m, that have done experiments with them and perhaps it could be helpful to others who have something go out.

Leroy, I was initially planning to put build an HT around my 2 channel, but plans have changed. I'm keeping the systems separate for a while.

Perhaps they are, all I know is that I got the same answer from Polk as Doro is relaying: there are issues that they will repair and others they will not. My electronic comprehension is rudimentary so I cannot comment on the ease of repair on these, nor the reason why there are issues that polk does not/can not address.

All I'm saying is that if Polk won't repair them, just take these amps to a good repair shop next time.

Polk repaired both my 3000P amps for 187. They replaced the caps and resoldered a connection from the uper post to the board on one amp. Good to go and I should get them back by next Tuesday, 12/20. Good, now I can sell this system knowing that it works.

I called Polk. They said they might be able to service the amps and gave me a Vista, CA address. The drivers may also be repairable, but they get sent to Baltimore, MD.

OK so I want to see if there is any interest for this system here in the forum.

I'm thinking of consolidating my stereo rig into my HT as I'm a little cramped for space.

Included would be the complete RT5000p system in Rosewood:

-Fronts: RT3000p powered fronts (each has a powered seperate subwoofer containing 2 custom 8" drivers)
-Center: CS1000p - the best center Polk ever made contains 2 powered sub drivers
    -Surrounds: FX1000 - dipole/bipole switch - fantastic dispersion
    -All power cords (3)
-An extra WORKING subwoofer amp for the RT3000p's (as these were custom to the unit these can prove invaluable as theyre nearly impossible to come accross) second hand are usually ~$300

I've put a lot of work into these and they are in perfect working order. Additionally the cabinets are all 9/10 condition. The real rosewood veneer is fantastic and intact. Corners are sharp. no snags, pulls, or rips in any of the 9 grills. Really, the speakers are in fantastic condition. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer set, and I know you won't find one with a backup amp.

I'd be looking for about $1400

I'm not desperate and I'm not in any rush.

    Hello,

I am very interested in your setup? How were you thinking of shipping these? I live in Canada and would have them shipped to Montana for pickup.

    Thanks,

    Ren

Ok, guys. These are back for sale. Same price - $1400. The only difference from before is that both amps on the rt3000ps have been worked on and are now in like new condition. So, same price, better speakers. I will consider parting the system out as well if there is enough interest. All the components are in 9/10 condition in rosewood. I will add a couple pics. I will ship for the right buyer.

not meant as a thread jack, but how would this system compare to a LSi 15, LSiC, LSi F/X, PSW125 system?
