The one thing I miss from the old rev was the notice in the upper right of when a user last visited and status of PMs. Can that be added?

I'm talking about the areas to the sides of the posts, between posts, and at the top and bottom of the page.

This was just a super quick photoshop paint bucket, and obviously you'd have to change some of the text from black to white, but this'll give you an idea.

Can someone explain how to get the spell check operational?

Guys the background will most likely stay white to keep consistency across the site. We do have a lot of visitors who aren't members and looking for information. Keeping a uniformed look allows the user to feel that this is part of polkaudio.com

Patrick is right about the white background for the default, however there is nothing saying that in the future we'll make a dark theme for those of you who don't want to turn your brightness down Those screen caps helped though falconcry.
As for this list bolding that was mentioned before, if anyone can post a capture of that I might be able to get to it tomorrow between projects.

IE. The previous format had a spell check button to the right. Clicking it prompted the user to install an add-in spell checker. After that it was fine. This spell checker does not prompt for any add-in, or do spell checking.
If I use Word to create a doc and spell check it, and try to post it, then the other issue with some characters being changed to ? occurs.

Could be just me, but the red and pink makes me feel like I'm on FamilyCircle.com
I'm all for the boring familiar black/grey/white scheme from before.
Right now -for me - too much white with small colored widgets is distracting.

Maybe silly question but those colored envelopes icons to the left of each post, any reason for their existence? Do not seem to be of any use, correct? Doesn't this take useless memory on the site? Anyone share my opinion it looks childish? Would it be worthwhile to remove them??? No biggy, just a thought, the forum might look a little more mature without them? Any thoughts?DARE TO SOAR:

Maybe go straight to their sire (link provided in my previous post) as their might be an upgrade for it?
I tried a reinstall, but the spell check button still is inoperative. However, I found that by right-clicking a menu appears, and check spelling is on it. While a bit inconvenient, it is better than nothing.

I am not sure I understand your post when you check with word. I often use it when at home without any issues (I just ignore the correction attempt that are specific to CP). When I paste back to the thread I never had any issues. At work I use my outllook doing the same process without any issues. Hopefully you might get things worked out with time and patience. New software always means lots of tweaking, trials and errors (this coming from someone that is far from being computer literate).DARE TO SOAR:

I am not sure I understand your post when you check with word.
Look at the quoted text in the first post (link below), and notice all the '?' mark characters in the wrong place. This started with the last upgrade around 6 months or so ago. For whatever reason, this software is replacing certain characters (" ' and others) with ? marks. If you create a doc in Word, paste it into here, and it contains any of the suspect characters they become ?, which, while trivial, I find irritating when reading a post.
Maybe the new texting generation doesn't really care about correct grammar, but I still do. I know, "Get over it old man."

I you guys copy and paste it from word it is not a problem with the forum it is the extra styling word puts on the characters. In the top left of the WYSIWYG editor there is a button that when you hover over it says "remove format".
Try that
This is a test of the remove format option to make sure characters such as ? ? ` ~ do not turn into a ? character. It?s a test of ?character?, so to speak.
It appears to work. Thanks. Perhaps that should be the default setting.
Interesting. First post was okay, second post the problem occured. Let's try Remove Format again.

It is mind-boggling to me that you guys would rather go through the trouble of copying and pasting from Word than to just use a modern browser that has spell-check built into it already. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

In all honesty I don't feel like loading that garbage (IMO ) into my personal computer and for the better reason into my work computer. I've worked with such spell check in the past and do not like them. Newer does not mean better (just look at newer manufacturing for example, newer, more modern but definitely cheaper end results) (another example, this new vBulletin version, newer, more modern but again IMHO not as appealing and/or efficient as what we were using before ).
Eh, your point is taken for a lot of things, but in the case of web browsers.... newer is typically better. Old versions of IE had serious security holes, if nothing else, so if you're far back enough that your browser doesn't even have spell check, you're open to a lot more problems than bad spellingIf you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Had the opportunity to get familiar and used to the upgraded vBulletin and I guess with time, it will become natural. For the one that preferred the blue setting, you can go and select this in your settings. With the wither back ground it seems to be much easier to read than originally. I've been playing back and forth between the Blue & Red-Gray themes.DARE TO SOAR:

TECHNOKID,
bobman's right on this one. Chrome is a better browser than IE, hands down, and it's especially better than an old version of IE.
Your personal computer and your work computer will be safer if you use Chrome. It's not "garbage", as you put it. IE is garbage.
It feels to me like you don't really know what you're talking about, and you're just trying to find ways to justify your stubbornness to change.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

Agreed. IE9 is a nice browser (though the lack of inline spellcheck is... curious, considering the competition has had it for generations). You'd be amazed at how many people are still using IE6.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
