I'm glad you went through with-out complications so far.

What is with Docs these days????????

You would think they know what LEVEL of pain anybody should experience with any operation know to man. Good god, there's hunreds of years of charts to prove what happens with what.

Your Doc should have you pain free and comfortable.period. How hard can it be to make sure your patient is covered.

My Doc didn't even want to give me pain meds after a shoulder manipulation. What a freekin moron doc. not to have OXICODONE or MORPHINE ready and waiting as soon as somebody wakes up after that friken operation. But Nooooo. I don't understand this treatment of patients who pay the docs in the first place. Then the docs want us to suffer???? WHY?

Don, I'm sorry for my rant, but I've heard stories of people getting WAY MORE PAIN PILLS or what ever to get them through.

    Not us...for some reason..

Good luck in your recovery and glad you have the exact same hobby I had to use to accompany my little pain relievers.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I had my tonsils removed around 5 or 6, and I cannot sing for crap. Why did you wait so long? Have you gotten circumcised yet, or are you also postponing that?

Didn't cause me problems until the past 2 years. The latter was taken care of a LONG time ago. Although, now that I have 3 kids, I was hoping they could perform some other snipping at the same time  No such luck!

Glad you got through it OK.

Keep the meds on board continuously - you'll use less in the long run and control your pain better.

In a lot of pain, but my doc said it went well. They pulled both tonsils and adenoids. It still hurts a lot even on liquid hydrocodone and percocet. I have just been sitting watching movies all night on the LSiM 703s :) Not a bad way to spend my time in pain.

    Don

Adenoids too? Well, best take care of your immune system because those guys do a lot of work. Having both tonsils and adenoids removed can have some effects on how your voice resonates. But let's wait and see, glad everything went well.

Pushed myself too much today. Thought I was better than I was. Tried to tough it out and only served to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that I am indeed a sissy

But.... Looks like I am going to have some crossover goodie s showing up tomorrow from gimpod! That should serve to keep me busy with something not very strenuous!

I have dropped my dosage on my meds, I hope I make it through the night. I think I have dropped to sissy status in my wife's mind too, andtht is never good. This has been worse than I thought. I dontknow if the double whammy of tonsils and adenoids did it or what, but I do not recommend it unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. Which it was for me, but still......

Take it easy man, don't do anything you weren't told to NOT do and take your meds regularly.

Typical guy trying to act like nothing is wrong. You had surgery, you are healing, and your body is still getting rid of the anesthesia.

Listen to when your body tells you to stop, it will make you regret it if you don't. Take your meds regularly, and follow doctors orders.

BTW, the doctor wouldn't recommend the surgery if it wasn't absolutely necessary as well! Just give yourself the proper rest and time to heal. Once that happens and you realize you have had a cold, sore throat, strep throat is 6 months to a year, you will realize that it was worth what you are going through now.

I was actually taking a slightly higher dose of medication than listed on the label based on my doctors recommendation. I backed down to the prescribed dose. The biggest thing I think that hurt me was that I tried to eat more solid food, which the doctor said I should try. Just to be clear, I haven't done anything the doctor said not to do, I just think the timetables he gave me were a little optimistic. By solid food I mean I tried to eat a hot dog :) and pushing myself was going to church....

I probably should have been a little clearer :). Now that I go back and read my posts it looks like I was I ignoring my doctor and trying to do too much. That really wasn't the case

Be sure and eat food with protein - greatly speeds the healing process for tissues damaged (cut) by surgery. Chicken soup is great for this and really does have restorative properties.

Don take it easy man you need to heal, you'll thank yourself latter.

BTW: If your package shows up today, You can look at them BUT your not allowed to install them. I know it will be tough but you need to heal first.

In the old days, Doctors told patients what to expect after surgury and they MADE SURE the pain was covered.

I asked a Doc about my broken heal recovery time line....He turned and looked like the DEVIL staring back at me....What the F is that a reaction for. Didn't I have a right to know his opinion or consinsis of long years of surgical studies and outcomes for 1000's of patients...?

I never got an answer or a folder or squat!!! BS doctors nowadys!!! Covering their asses are what their doing!!

That's all.... I'm glad your healing .

I've been lucky with my Dr, he listens.
When I broke a couple of ribs a couple of years ago, he prescribed Oxy and said I'd probably be off work for 3 or 4 weeks. I told him to juice up the pain meds because I was going back to work(s) in 1 week (long story, but had to) and if I was pain-free for 4 days, I'd heal. If I did the toss-and-turn-and-sweat-at-2-in-the-morning routine, I wouldn't.
So he maxed out the Oxy dose for me. After 3 days, my Oxy bottle "fell in the toilet" so I called his office up and got a refill. After 2 more days of pain meds, I quit. Healed good enough in that time mainly, IMO, because I was able to get some goooooood sleep time in.

I think doctors are reluctant to prescribe pain meds at effective levels because they're scared to death of the DEA.

Don, that suggestion for getting plenty of protein is excellent, IMO. You might want to stop by GNC, etc and get a jug of MRP; plenty of protein, plenty of vitamins, minerals, etc to help you along the way.
