I plan to let the RT3000P subs do the 80hz and below and the TC Sounds 50hz and below!
From what I've gathered over multiple phone calls with Thilo Stompler when I was designing my LFE project, the 5100 beats the rest of them in every way, including midbass, exception being depth vs the 5400. The ultra is the ultra for a reason.
The cascaded sub crossover is exactly what I do with my 25s and 1k, except I have the 25s take 100-down. It works shockingly well. Hats off to you.
How much is veneer? A sheet of MDF is only like $29, give or take, so couldn't you save even more by just veneering it yourself?- Computer Rig -

Exactly why I am tempted to sell my Ultra 5400 and replace it with a 5100.Under about 50Hz though, the LMS ultra is just plain scary!!!!

That's why I went with the two 12's first. Hopefully that'll take care of the midbass and the 5400's can handle the deep stuff.

Unfortunately they raised the price to ~1200 on the 5100. Rightly so, since it has the output of three 5400s at 80Hz, but still. Let me know if you decide to sell that 5400. I won't need the snappy midbass because of the towers I'm building, so the 5400+VMPs tuned to 15Hz is just right for me.- Computer Rig -

I really like the TC Sounds sub...
I could see building a second one to put parallel to it in the room...
Run two of these and the RT3000P subs.
I really like the 3 cu ft enlosure, it is very small. I think 4 cu ft would be ideal but it is much to large for what I want to do...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Haven't decided yet. I was thinking the I-Tech 8000 as a be-all-end-all for any and every possible future project. I'd rather go all out from the start and future-proof myself then want/need to buy a better amp later.- Computer Rig -

That would definitely be an end all be all amp!! I think it might posses the capability to melt an LMS Ultra 5400! The Crown I Techs are awesome!

What I like most about it, aside from 8kW of output, is the built-in DSP, and the ability to control it all via a Cat5 network, so it's simple. I'll admit, the amp is on the pricey side, but there's pretty much nothing it doesn't do. I could go cheaper with a separate DSP and amp, but I really like the Crowns and have never had a problem using, or a problem in general with any of the models I've used, which include all of the XTis and the I-Tech 4000. The on-screen GUI makes it pretty idiot-proof.- Computer Rig -

They really are very nice amps. As you know, I run a XTi 4000 and a CE4000. The CE4000 squashes the the XTi 4000 though IMHO.

With REALLY low bass. It is a class I amp like the I Techs. The XTi is class d. It runs out of power down low in comparison to the CE 4000. The CE 4000 is the only CE amp that is class I though. As I mention all the time, it was the test bed for the I Techs. Great amp for the money if you run outboard DSP. It can drive low bass to insane levels. The XTi is no slouch, but the CE 4000 is really more comparable to the I Tech 4000.
Regardless of which crown amp you land on, i will make one suggestion, which is a hard and fast rule for me and sub amps now.... Put it on a 220v circuit. The big crowns run more efficiently and actually generate significantly more power on 220 volts.

Interesting! I hadn't read into the difference between the lines enough to know that.
And I've already got the 220 line planned. Lucky me, my older brother is an electrician, so I get that stuff done for free
edit: I'm also adding two 120v lines, one for whatever amplifier(s) I get for my fullrange stuff, and another to run the rest of my gear on.- Computer Rig -

So your running dual Empires then right "....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Nah.. They're sealed
and only 600w RMS. My truck has a ported enclosure tuned to 24Hz and 1100 RMS per driver. If so inclined, I could reach well into the >140 dB range at sustained levels with no distortion, but that would hurt :frown:

LOL... yeah just a bit. I am attempting (with lots of assistance) to build 2 boxes to house some Treo Te 10's with each one getting ~600 watts RMS from the same amp.
I get to 120db now in my Jetta with just the 1 10" so hopefully I can get a little bit more with 2
Then I just need to get a set of Polk SR 5 1/4 components to replace my db's w/ and I am set "....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Yeah, I am running some of their lower end stuff (500 max watts rms, not 2000 like the SSX's lol)... but they pound quite hard in my little Jetta "....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." You should try those TC sounds subs in your truck, they're a beast. I got my brother up on TC sounds and he put 2 of those 18's in his truck. It's ridiculous. -
