Well, pfb, you're kinda out of line. You don't know the guy at all, you don't have any dealing with him, so please take care of your own issues (which we knew of ) instead of attacking others.

Mods, shouldn't that thread been closed already? Many of the comments in this thread should only be handled via PMs. Why should the entire planet be involved in a "guilty before trial verdict"? Please, close this thread and do not allow further extrapollation on this member on the open. PFB, your comment has been reported as IMHO, you are simply stirring the pot.

I doubt that your average smash'n'grab perpetrator is that forward thinking. When I got broken into anything that was taken was small enough to be concealed in a pocket and easy to pawn.

The doucher that broke into my place stole cash and an iPod touch. Did touch the TV, laptop or the stereo. In and out in less than a minute I'll bet. I doubt that your average crackhead is either smart enough or industrious enough to think about the value of scrap metals.

Oh, no, I doubt they are myself. Anyone with a brain would be smart enough to wander around the night before trash day and collect the free salvage at the side of the road legally instead of illegally smashing and grabbing.

However, I knew a guy who ran a TV/VCR repair shop (am I dating myself yet?) who would have "break ins" every couple of months and customers stuff would be "taken". He'd file reports and such to make it all legit but what he was really doing was selling gutted parts to out-of-state scrappers and suppliers. He was making more money doing that from the scrap sales and the insurance claims than he was doing the repairs.

Not saying Ben is doing that. However, anybody with some level of electronics skills can strip some very valuable components out of electronics. I could take a broken VCR that had something stupid like a trashed loader tray gummed up with peanut butter and jelly sammiches. Worth maybe $10 at the flea market. Open it up and start stripping parts, processors and copper and unload it all to scrappers and eBay for about $300 right now. Used processors are a big market, especially overseas in developing countries where a box of ten old 8086 processors can garner a couple grand.

What part of your post was a joke? Zero!!! You do not know the guy, so you thought that you would inject your two cents and pile on? I don't think so...

Then you come up with the lie that your post was a joke... sorry, but I call complete BS.

We won't discuss the PM you sent me asking to be treated with the same respect as if I saw you on the street. You deserve the same amount of respect as the name you called me in that post and the same as you have shown Ben by insinuating that he's on crack... ZERO!!!

Hopefully the mods will remove you from the membership as all you add to the discussion around here is, you guessed it, a big fat ZERO!

He is obviously having a rough time for whatever reason, should have been named Murphy. Hopefully he pulls out of it.
