So do you have Brand Loyalty with "anything" you buy?? this is not just about audio but "ANYTHING" you buy..

I will start with one and that is I hate cheap generic Q-TIPS it has to be the Q-TIP brand or nothing at all..

I also will only buy Levis Jeans, another one is Carmex I have to have it, Coke, and a few others.

This Idea came to me after reading the Pioneer Elite TV thread. I'm not sold on big names like "I will only drive a Chevy" I really only have a few Brand loyalty things I have to and will only buy. Every TV in my house is a Samsung not because it's the only TV I would buy it's really because we have had nothing but good luck with them and they have a great picture, 3 LCD's and 2 Plasmas, our first Plasma is 5 years old and still looks and performs as good as the last Plasma we bought..

So what is yours???

I moved away from brand loyalty way back then when "throw away technology" started to be the norm and this is even worse IMO with Chinese manufacturing. Brands don't mena much but paying for a name nowadays, everyone packs the brand name with cheap Chinese manufacturing goods so why pay the extra for the name. I now rely more on the seller attitude toward after sale service (IE: had quite a few good experiences with COSTCO. I once received a 300$ cheque from them which reason for the cheque was customer satisfaction (original purchase was 650$)!)

Same here, I will not buy generic but only the brand name Q-Tips as I don-t feel anything less is up for the task. I will often prefer Kraft products over generic or competitve brands. I will stay away from just about any store brand when it comes to food (you never know what can be hidden behind the store brand name and this is body intake so...).

Take Polk for example, I believe I have been pretty loyal to the brand over the past few years and the main reason is their after sale service and overall attitude toward their clients. Heck there are many affordable competitive brands out there but again the after sale service is the key.

Right now, I am in a battle over a product I bought lately and the store chain (I plead my case into 2 different stores) wants to get it fix rather than reimburse. So here is my learning, never to buy this brand and unfortunately for this store chain, never to buy from them any longer, they are loosing a client that was loyal to them for approximately 40 years. So again to me my providers loyalty is much more important then my brands loyalty. I will provide my loyalty to the business that will garantee me great after sale service despite the fact that it will be rarely needed.

Name brand only with Food. I dont like generic or store brand stuff. To me it just doesn't taste the same. This is why I dont shop for food at Wal Mart. Seems like you only have 2 choices on food. One name brand or Great Value. I want choices between name brands.

Pepsi, although I had to switch to Pepsi One, years ago.

Toyota cars have been VERY dependable for me, my wife and daughter for YEARS. Ford truck..F150, same one for 14 yrs. after a bad GMC experience made me switch brands back then.

Polk Audio speakers should be here as long as I can have them around.
I like other speakers too but monitor 10's kick-started my love back into audio after a long hiatus so there's sentimental reasons there besides sound quality too:biggrin:.

I don't drink it much any more, but Diet Coke is still near and dear. I used to be brand loyal to Levi's until I discovered that Lees fit my fat **** better. Several decades ago when I smoked, it was only Camels. I don't always drink beer, but when I do I prefer Newcastle Brown Ale.

I do find that since I became an Amazon Prime member, I do most of my shopping there.

Cocola (coca cola), my dads old 1965 convertible vw bug given to me when headed to the junkyard I kept restoring until hurricane Wilma (rust in peace), my 1990 25th anniversary Ford mustang convertible 5.0 standard I still drive daily, 1989 Polk Audio CRS SDA's, 2 pioneer receivers one old one new both fine, mutts from the SPCA, one cool painting I kept Safe since I got it in the PI same time as the Polks. Oh, thread is about brands. Well some I kept but changed. I used to only think Kenwood was the best for me until I discovered pioneer( can't afford elite yet), so I have to say Coca Cola for me. Otherwise I selectively change, but all I listed above have served me for many years. I'm 43, and I used both cars since college except for the bug which died in 2005. My most prized possessions I still have for over 20 years, Polk SDA CRS, the painting, my dads 1965 Harmony h165 all mahogany acoustic guitar, my grandmother's brass blue crab ashtrays, and my grandfathers army air Corp sir kit from right before he joined the flying tigers prior to WWII.

I know I scewed the thread, but I think brand loyalty sticks for brands that last and still get the job done.

Overall the age of the brand is pretty much dead. Social media provides a reprieve for an undetermined length of time, but brands can't figure out how to monetize it. Store/house brands have taken over, however they don't invest as much in actual "brand" signatures and messages.

Great topic, Larry, and interesting responses! For me, I'd say I'm not brand loyal, especially on the basic stuff -- I'll drink Coke or Pepsi, brush my teeth with Colgate or Crest, use whatever T.P. is cheapest (unless it's the John Wayne brand - Rough, tough, and won't take **** off anyone), etc. Even a lot of generic food is as good (if not better) than "brand name" food, imo. (Sometimes multiple brands are even manufactured in the same plant but are given different names to capture more shelf space....)

The only brand I'm really loyal to is.... women.... I won't have "sex" without one.:biggrin: hahaha (Of course, no offense to the ladies suggesting they are a "brand").

I used to like Coke more, but ever sinve Coke no longer tastes like Coke (about 12 to 15 years now) and especially since Pepsi is made with actual sugar cane and the "throwback" tastes pretty much like older Pepsi did, I buy that now. If Coke actually tasted like Coke still (i.e.not watered down, increased HFC) I definately prefer Coke to Pepsi.

I guess in that case and many others I don't have brand loyalty, I am loyal to the best made product using quality parts and/or ingredients which performs the best to me.
