I'm almost positive that the RTi8 also uses 1/4-20" spikes. When it comes to the newer lines it should again, be plug and play. If they came with those generic, black threaded spikes with the adjustment nut, YES.

Solid brass has no issues at that weight.

I have a set of Audio Points http://www.starsoundtechnologies.com/15threaded.HTML I got a few years ago that are machined from brass with the brass screw shaft integrated into the cone. The manufacturer of those rates them up to 100-200 lbs each, but also advises not putting stress on the shaft by tilting and leaning a speaker on one of the spikes. Figure they've had complaints from some who've snapped the things off. At $43 a pop now, they are expensive. They also have extremely sharp points on the ends which makes using them on speakers in a room with wood floors difficult.

I agree the ones from Meniscus should have no weight issues since the threaded shafts are steel. Even if they do break accidentally they should be very easy to replace since they're not part of the cone. I do think that the thread needs to be fully inserted into the speaker with the cone touching the speaker cabinet to be on the safe side though if the speaker is going to be moved.

Emlyn - Good points. I would hope that some of this would be common sense so I'm general in my comments concerning them. If you only have the threaded insert in the loudspeaker and its not flush with the spike, certainly you have the risk of snapping it off if you try to manhandle it or move it roughly.

I find that the sharp pointed spikes grab and are more difficult to move but then again I'm careful. I cannot cover every scenario that a prospective owner may experience so just use your own judgement folks, this isn't difficult.

Tyler Acoustics uses spikes just like this (part of the reason I wanted them) and he uses them on speakers that are 300+ pounds :)

    Buy these things people!

Also I like to put my speakers on tile - the tile will have felt feet under it and I will put floor savers under the spikes - speakers are real easy to move and they get a solid foundation!

I'll take a set. Maybe this will motivate me to get around to re-building the trashed bases on my RTA-12C's.

No, but I'm sure he's a skeptic about it all since I did just cold email him. When we started exchanging emails, in reality, we're just like any other user forum and most admin/mods of websites are full of crap. I'm not saying I'm better but I believe that I'm full of LESS crap at the very least

The real kicker is that we have 67 set SOLD....so I hope he takes advantage of this.

Have you let him know we're at 67 already? He'll probably think it's a scam, lol.

Does anyone make replacement metal outriggers for the RTi8/10/12 towers? It would seem to me to be of little benefit to screw these into the stock plastic pieces...

At this price point it makes it hard to resist, so I'm not going to fight it.

Please put me down for 2 sets.

    Thanks,
