Anyone try the Audiophiler caps from Amazon or China?
I see some yellow 10uF 250V ones, and orange 10uF 400V - would these be as good as Bennic or Solen?

Bennic and Solen aren't that good to begin with.

My suggestion for good performance/price ratio would be to use ClarityCap PX for tweeter/midrange circuits and Solen or Dayton for bass circuits. I just did a crossover upgrade with these parts to a pair of RT25i with very good results.

For budget, I like the Dayton Audio 1% caps as tightly matched components can make a difference in crossovers, especially between left and right speakers.

How bad can these Chinese MKP be?
They got to be better than electrolytics and mylar caps in the original crossovers.

I've heard poor reviews of them, but never used them myself. The are Chinese knock-offs as you probably guessed (quality and values not guaranteed), but just be aware of what they are selling for, and if you can get something else comparable for the price.

well we have given proven GREAT options if you want to go out on that limb so be it. I'd bet there are electrolytics that would run circles around those chinese crap...oops I mean caps:eek:
Its come to the point where you will be wasting money to upgrade to a product that may be a downgrade or sideways movement which means leave them stock and save money.

I think I'll purchase some of the of the red (MKP?) Audiophiler caps for ya'll and try them. They spec at +/- 3% and 400V, but I think they should be cheaper unless they are decent. Four 10uF caps are $16 with free shipping from China, and I'm hoping they'll at least be better than 20 year old electrolytic input caps.

I will get those recommended caps but got to wonder how bad a poor MKP given the amount of time listening to electrolytics and mylar caps.

I just sold the project they were going into, so no... I'm still building out my preamp, but it's a premium design, and I want a cap that I already know and like for it.

Let me see if I have another project I wouldn't mind trying them on...

I just ordered some red "Audiophiler" film caps from ebay, enough to populate my new B1 buffer. I'll test these verses the current unlabelled MKP/film caps and see what they sound like. I'll then swap in some premium caps like ClarityCap and test again. These Chinese caps should be knock-offs of the big, film premium caps we all know and love, so I'm interested to see build quality and performance.

Changed out the caps in my preamp last night for red, film Audiophiler ones from China. So far they sound like the original OEM caps without any hours on them, but I'll critically listen to them again after 50 hours. Construction seems good on the caps, and I haven't found any defects, or out of specs units. Build quality wise they seem a very good value, but we'll see what they sound like after burn in to see if they are worth the money; a little as it is.
