Tom T. Hall sang a nice little ditty about beer. It's better after you had a few beers though

Some people call it a six pack, I call it a support group.

Leave your man card at the door! Beer is ALWAYS quenching!
Mantis, Shipyards Pumpkin Ale and Dogfish are excellent selections. There are a couple more in the area but for the life of me i can't remember their names. The problem with them is they are so addictive!
Octoberfest are also really starting to hit the shelves so i will be dabbling in those are well.
If you ever get a spare moment, Dogfish Head's 120 IPA is possibly my favorite beer right now but watch out, it's a bit "bitey":twisted:
I keep hearing about Shipyard , I gotta get some. I've had Dogfish head 120 and their Pumpkin. 120 is to much for me but the Pumpkin isn't bad , it's pretty good.
I'm a huge Oktoberfest beer guy , I make my rounds with all the original German brews then go craft to see if anyone can beat the original brews.
Honestly this is the best time for beer. Stouts are next and I can't wait for RiverHorse Oatmeal Milk Stout , my personal favorite.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I think it should be included on the food pyramid.

Had dinner with my daugher & son-in-law tonight (Mrs. H is outta town this weekend); we had Founder's Porter with stew and fresh-baked bread - it was yummy (all three, but in the context of this thread, the porter).

Who likes IPA's? Who also has some suggestions for some good ones? I have a few:
I very very highly suggest Russian River Brewery's Pliney the elder and Pliney the younger IPA's. Possibly two of the best I've ever had. Outstanding IPA's!
What do other people suggest for IPA's?
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I've only had Saranac's and Flying Dog. Must expand my horizons !
Flying dog is local for me so I can get everything they brew, if wanted.........

I screwed up with my spelling. It should be Pliny NOT Pliney.I've only had Saranac's and Flying Dog. Must expand my horizons !

Never had the Saranac's, I've had the Flying Dog. It's OK, but either of the Plinys will absolutely destroy the Flying Dog, guaranteed.
You should definately expand your IPA horizons. Pliny the elder is easier to find. The younger is much more difficult, but well worth it. Either one is phenominal however.

Just had a Schlafly Pumpkin Ale the other night. One of the better ones I've had, if not the best. Hard to keep track of them all...

Try Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest. If you can find it.

For IPA's I recently discovered Lagunitas brews. Their IPA is good. Undercover Shutdown Ale is my favorite from
them but I believe it was a limited run.
I'm partial to Dogfish Head 60 and 90 Minute. The 120 Minute is a monster! At 15-18% ABV, this needs to be served a bit warmer. I'm still trying to find the optimum serving temperature. The half case I have left will be laid down for a few years to age. Certainly not a session beer.
Last night I sampled Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn on tap. I'll be revisiting this one soon. -

Ah, Russian River's Pliny the Elder - quite possibly the world's finest IPA? A lot of people seem to think so. It's certainly fantastic, especially on tap.
I'm also a fan of Stone Ruination IPA, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, Drake's Denogginizer (and Aroma Coma), and Speakeasy Double Daddy. Cheers!
