How much DC voltage would it take to do this? I have read where some have tested their drivers using a 1.5v battery connected to their speakers leads to make sure they were wired correctly. Would a 9v battery smoke them? Tweeters?

35v to 60v would do it, a tick to check a speaker with a 9v battery would't hurt a speaker unless its really small like a cell phone speaker.
