Its all that hot air, kinda like helium.

A few hundred pounds off a heavy car yields a few extra tenths, but off an already light car with a small engine makes it a whole different driving experience. I started looking at weight to horsepower ratios of other cars and comparing them to mine and its amazing the cars which I can compare to with a 125hp car weighing in at 2010 pounds.

Then lose some weight, tubby. You'll be healthier for it in the long run too.

Not sure if I could get along without a truck. But man, I'd love to have better gas mileage.

For a while, it was looking like I might get a job a couple hours away, so yea, i would've definitely switched then. In all honesty, for our purposes now, there's nothing that my wife's Acadia can't do with a trailer than my truck could do.

I'm not working on a ranch anymore on constantly loading the bed with a lot of weight like I did in years prior. The most my truck has been offroad in the last year is a rock driveway.

So while I would love to have another truck, when it comes down to it, I'm not sure if I'll get another one. Besides, I don't think I can quite bring myself to owning a Ford...and some key features I want aren't included in the current model GMs.

The 04-08 line of F150 is not a 200,000 mile truck.

    My 91 F150 was a 200,000 mile truck...

I have seriously regretted trading in my 91... to this day. Absolutely regretted every bit of it.

Outside of your control your 3rd brake light will leak, does not matter what light you use - it will leak. I mean flood gate leak. My back seat is all but ruined because of the flood waters that light lets in.

The interior itself has not held up anywhere like my 91 - the cloth "stains" even if you spill water. Every time it rains - the next day you have to deep clean all your seats to get rid of water spots... The arm rest came detached...

You can be driving down the road and all the sudden your window will fall into the door... $250 bucks - happens at least once every few years...

My truck has 165,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 3,000 miles - all fluids and filters (except oil, 3,000 miles there) are changed every 30,000, the spark plugs are changed every 60,000.

So in other words I baby the **** out of my truck.

The engine and tranny operate fine - the problem is that truck is heavy as balls and the engine is only a 4.6L so everything you do - daily driving to towing is a work out for that thing. You are constantly putting it under a load.

I love my truck outside of all the things mentioned above, but there is no way - the longer I think about it - I would keep it past 200,000 miles - the odd maintenance items here and there will eat you alive as parts are not cheap. Unlike my 91 where parts are 10-15 bucks a pop.

I would rather get rid of it and just get a 1991 F150 again

I love my '91 Ford F-150 truck.. best one i've ever owned.. just wish it was
a 4wd though.. but it gets me to where I need to go.

I finally got rid of my 1998 f150. 200k+. I miss it already. But the new Mustang has it's perks.

I was in the same boat a couple years ago. Live in suburbs and commute to DC. HAve a Nissan Titan that was killing me in gas in the commute. COULD have gotten rid of it, but decided to keep it and buy a beater to commute in. Settled on a 1998 Honda Accord LX that I picked up for $1500. 2 years and almost 50K miles, just oil changes, brakes and a new radiator. Need new tires soon, but all worth the investment in the end and still have the truck.

I did the same with a 88 civic. went from $50 every other day to $30 2X a week. Still have my trucks, too.
