I did not respond well to just being told to "deal with it or leave."

I have apologized for that, I do apologize for that. It is one of my many character faults that I try to work on..., but sometimes I let the "heat of the discussion" get to me. There is no excuse, but I just don't like being "talked down to" and that is what I felt happened, and I didn't respond in the best way.

The ongoing thing with Jstas was just trolling and I apologize for that as well.

I agree, and I am sorry. In the future, I will be more careful about how far I push a controversial topic if one comes up. I can assure you that I won't start a controversial thread. In fact, better knowing now what is and is not accepted around here as topics, I will try to refrain from even replying to a topic that is likely to be locked anyway.

Late to the conversation, but I'd say that we should not have such an area of the forum. There are plenty of forums, both free and pay, that have area that specialize in those sorts of discussions. And every time I make the mistake of posting in one of those sorts of topics in the clubhouse, I always end up regretting it due to the number of straw men arguments, ad homs, false equivalencies, etc. that pop up in the thread. So rather than saying that many here don't know how to hold a discussion in an adult manner, I would say that many here simply don't know how to hold a discussion. Period. Full stop. For those wondering what I'm talking about, there's an excellent article series called Getting to QED that explains some of this. Dude, very good article. I've been complaining about pretty much the same stuff for years (not just here)and get ridiculed for it.

It's a shame though that no one is going to read it because "it's too long".

FWIW- no, we shouldn't have a political aspect to an audio forum. This forum belongs to polk, not me,or you, or anyone else. Their rules period. Even though some topics turn into politics, the mods only let it go so far before zipping it up. You wouldn't go on a Better Homes and Garden forum are start chating up politics. Go to a political forum and get all your stress out there.

First, i was not around for the problems discussing politics and social issues in the past(thank god), but now i get it.

Secondly, just **** i believe, or justice, no its jstas, or someone, mentioned i was one of two people who wanted a political forum, I did not say i wanted one,in fact my post was titled "should there be?", not "there should be"I just asked if there should be one, and mainly so any such banter could be totally banned from other forums,BELIEVE ME, I no longer want or care, please god, dont let there be such a forum.

I have posted about an american hero, my friends stepson, losing both arms and a leg in afghanistan defending our asses, and his heroic response and warrior attitude towards what happened to him and how he would be attacking his recovery and life with zeal, I think it got, maybe 10 responses.

This was astounding, there are some strange, i repeat strange people here,might be one myself, but just damn.

Justin, political discussions quite often zoom right past super critical right to prompt critical. Too much potential for damaging fallout. Almost guaranteed to have a potential loss of (civil) flow accident.
