A political, social topic topic forum here.

I thought the news i brought to attention about yet another phony media conglomerateCENSORING pledge of allegiance, brought about some pretty enlightened , thoughtful comments, ranging from patriotism to religion.

Mine were especially insightful,as usual, and yeah i crammed a lot into four sentences, so what, i can get wordy and stream of conciousnessny sometimes.

But i think it was interesting reading everyones input.

I also think it might keep so much political and social commentary from worming its way into threads on other subjects.

NO! There are plenty of other places to dicuss that stuff. It is not needed here.

I think we should have a forum that encompasses religion, politics, guns, cables - that way the conversations stay there and not everywhere else.

Of course I am kidding, but it would be an interesting forum to pop in and read from time to time

I think we are lucky enough to have a clubhouse section for non-audio related topics. I wouldn't push it any further since every thread that turns to politics gets closed for good reason.

NO! When we could discuss those kinds of topics, they all ended in the hall of shame, and closed down leaving bad feelings & animosity all over the board. They NEVER stay civil. This is not the place for religion, politics, or any other topic that can start flame wars.

Yes there should be. You can call it ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK and those that don't like that sort of thing can stay out. I was disappointed that they closed that thread because we were having some good debate. Not sure why we should be afraid of that.

Neither of you that are "for" this have been here nearly long enough to have had the experience concerning this "lesson learned" and why there is no political, religion or gun forum here.

    Drop it.

If you don't like it, no one is making you stay here.

This thread should be closed and deleted.

This is an audio forum, period.

This is not up for discussion, we are lucky to have what we have here, be thankfull for that. When it comes to these types of discussions, take it to where it's ment to be, sort of like when you we're a kid and bouncing a basketball inside, your parents would tell you to go bounce that ball outside, where it should be done. Lets just be happy that Polk allows us to have a forum here, I for one do not want it so be even more mucked up by these types of discussions, we have enough here to talk about in regards to audio, I'm sure Google will find many forums for 'those' types of discussions. Its pretty easy to use.

Politics is not allowed CP, plus there are 100's of 1000's other places on the net for that.

As far a social commentary as long as it doesn't discuss religion, guns or politics that's what the Club House forum is for. If this stuff is "worming" it's way into other forums like vintage speakers or electronics, let the mods handle it. Frankly, I don't know what you are talking about.

This is a site about speakers and the Club House is the area to discuss non-related issues. There is absolutely no need for a social commentary forum, none.

I've asked for my account to be deleted, for other reasons, but the "web master" doesn't come here and his PM box is full.

But until then, no, I won't drop it. I wouldn't start a topic like this, but I will put out my opinion in one. I also don't care enough about NOT having such a forum to stop coming here for not having it.

However, we should be free to discuss what we want. Those of you with all this time here that don't like it or that can't conduct yourselves like adults when debating controversial topics can choose not to participate.

You should drop it because you are not free to discuss what you want here. This is a private forum managed by a company with a desire to portray a positive public image. Having discussions on politics, religion and guns brings an element to the site that they have expressed a desire to avoid with concerns to what it will do to the public image hey are trying to maintain.

This is not a democracy. This is a dictatorship. You are allowed to come and play here by the grace of Polk Audio. They reserve the right to not only restrict content as they see fit but membership as well.

If you don't like it, you don't even need your account deleted. Just go somewhere that doesn't offend your sensibilities. Don't tell anyone you're leaving in a dramatic huff either. Just go and do your own thing and those of us who choose to stay will do ours.

    Simple as that.

    Have a nice day.

As an alternative to being a little crybaby-drama queen, you can go elsewhere on the net where these topics can be discussed or feel free to start your own bullitin board.

Enough with the name calling. No one is being a drama queen about this except you, and a few others. No one threatened to leave for anything.

That said, if it isn't going to change, I accept that. I don't care really, but it was tossed up for discussion. Sad that you can't have a rational discussion without name calling.

Since you are handling this like an adult, what did upper management say when you approached them with I would hope was a very logical and persuasive agruement why all topics should be allowed?

I'm betting the only thing you have done to move your cause forward is whine about it on the forum with the general membership, who have no powers to do anything about it.
