Just to be clear, I need some suggestions on placing two 24"X24"X6" panels in the back "corners". The left rear corner I think I can get the panel up there. The right "corner" is the problem (the 2nd photograph). Any suggestions on where and how to put it up? Thanks guys.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

OP, while your rebuilding your room with treatments understand your Polks are not being given anywhere near the music signal or amplification to make them sing to their potential, they can take you very far. Have fun on your audio journey. Check out the Polk Lsim bookies if you like, they will shine with the same gear that will make your present speakers do their thing.

Do you have any treatments in the back of the room? I assume not since you said you have 12 of them. The back of the room is where I need help with. Still need to take the photos, but it's kinda dark down there right now (it's in a basement. Plus, I only have an iphone to photograph with (they don't take good photos). I'll still give it a try though. I'll upload them in a minute or so.....

    Greg

The back of my "room" is open for about 40 ft through other rooms, so there's nothing to treat.

It looks to me, since that right corner is open over the staircase, that there's no need to treat.

There are several long threads about this. I might dig some up and provide links... or I might just drink my beer and continue listening to some new music. hmm. I think you're on your own this time.

Haha thanks Falcon!! I've learned a lot about Hifi in the last 3 years that I've really been into it, but room treatments are one area where I'm still completely uninformed.

    From most to least important:

    brain
    ears
    room acoustics
output source - loudspeakers (or headphones - in which case delete room acoustics)
input source - phono cartridge, then turntable, or tape deck, or receiver/tuner, or tape teck
    power amp
    preamp
    cables
    power cords
    fuses
    magic pixie dust
    snake oil

I wouldn't pay much attention to the last 5 on the list unless there's something wrong with them in the first place.

So I bought a Dared SL-2000a and should have it in the next couple days. It will be really fun trying tubes for the first time.

I have been having trouble incorporating ASIO with Foobar2000 to my DAC, I don't know if my Pop Pulse supports it or maybe I have some setting wrong. I got the same result on two different computers where I can hear the song output but it is riddled with constant clicking noises. The settings are all standard from some guides online and I played around with it for awhile without any success. Does the DAC have to have Asynchronous USB to support ASIO? I used ASIO4ALL as the driver.

I wish that the hobby we share was more widespread so I wouldn't have to buy and sell so much equipment to really progress. If I could have heard Lsi's when I was first interested in the hobby I would have skipped a bunch of steps. It has been fun though and having a forum like this is a good guide. I appreciate the tip about ASIO and bitperfect CD ripping, hopefully I can implement them both here soon.

It is funny how the average consumer doesn't care about sound quality, I can't stand listening to the audio from a flat screen tv
