LSiM line now up...

They wanted to simplify the lineup and decided on a single bookshelf instead of a pair. It also allowed them to really saturate the bookshelf with everything from the larger models without any kind of real sacrifice aside from the obvious. It's not a small bookshelf by any means.
good deal, that definitely sounds like a step in the right direction. I personally really like the idea of 3 different size drivers, as in the 703. At least conceptually, you'd think it would allow the speaker to cover a broader range of frequencies with better detail/quality.
One thing I'm not sold on is size though... I though that the lsi seems like a big speaker, but the lsim seems to have grown even MORE... for those trying to keep their rooms from being "cluttered" this might be a sore point. All in all, if the size makes them sound better, I would be sold anyway. Just thinking that this day-n-age some manufacturers seem to be moving to smaller profiles (maybe at the cost of sound quality, I don't know), so it is a bit surprising that polk went in the opposite direction.
Either way, they look dead SEXY and I really can't wait to get my ears on these!4ohm, compatible with 8ohm inputs....but what loudspeaker isn't.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

The LSiM 703 typo is a serious bummer...
I was all set to just hit the order button as soon as they hit the stores.
$2,000 is just not something I can swing. I guess I will keep my eyes open for some LSi 9s and Focals. -

Oh... so the $749 a pair price on the lsim 703 is a typo?
I also noticed a typo on the tech specs page of the lsim floorstanders. It says they are 707 and 703(should say 705).
I think polk should honor the typo price for forum members who discovered all these errors, because you know they will still turn a profit! :rolleyes:Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

I saw that too - and thought dang $749 for a *pair* of 703s - that is really tempting!

download the PDF manual for the proper specs of the speakers (the ones on the site are iffy).
As for the 703 pricing - its probably the price per piece. I read ages ago that the bookshelves would be around 1500/pr so that'd make sense if each is 749.95 -

You are correct, but only if your living room is 20x20, just big in general.
I went from m60s to m70s in my living room 12x18, and while m70s sound better, they are dwarfing the room BIG TIME! The room just feels more cluttered. This is why I am looing to do away with big floorstanders all together and get nice bookshelves all around.
A big giant table in a small room doesn't look good, is not testeful and neither is a huge speaker, unfortunately...
but really, to each his own, this really is a personal taste preference.

Having had the 703 on demo for a couple of days for 749 a pair I would have already ordered them!AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

So I called polkaudio to possibly "pre-order" the 703s at the listed price, ha! no dice...
They said they didn't have them in yet, two months out supposedly, and he said the suggested retail price is gonna be close to $2200 for the pair. The guy was really interested to know where I saw the price $749 per pair and when he pulled up the web page he was like "whoa! That's definitely an error!" lol! so I told him about a few other errors I noticed. They really should correct this stuff, cuz I got *** ALL EXCITED *** thinking I was getting me the 703s... :frown:.......
I still think they should honor the price for those who pointed out the errorLiving Room 7.1 HT Rig:

Well, I was 2nd or 3rd in line, so keep me on any such list (but I won't hold my breath)

The have corrected the 703s to be 1500 a pair, so I am guessing that is the real price. I was pretty excited about the 750 a pair.

Through my distributor this is the answer I received:
"The bookshelf speakers are schedule to start shipping in late July and the floorstanding speakers not until sometime in Q4. At this point, the availability of the floorstandings is slightly vague.
Regarding pricing, Polk has not release a price sheet to us at this point.
Thank you,"

Yeah, I see that, that was quick! They corrected everything, the price on 703 and also the tech specs page where 705s were labeled as 703s. Good for them! I guess we can all get back to reality now... the $749 a pair dream is over... :frown:Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

To think or expect that they'd sell the 703 for $750 a pair is an insult

That statement could not be more accurate, IMO.
Still can't afford them but I can definitely admire nice things. And these nice things should be priced accordingly.
Reading the PDF on the LSiM's, came across:
"Caring for Your LSiM Loudspeakers"
Some solid good advice followed. However, for the 703's, I'd recommend some silk pajamas, a nice goose feather pillow, high thread count cotton sheets, soft lighting, and a nice lullaby to put them to bed everynight. That'd be the real way to care for them properly.
Dam those look nice. Said it before, but if they sound half as nice as they look, ...... wow !Sal Palooza -
I really think they did a great job in design. The only thing I'm not truly digging is the lack of color options. At 4k for a pair of speakers , I would like a few more options in color. Cherry and black just don't get it done. Today more then ever many houses have Maple finishes. These speakers would look fantastic in a birds eye maple. I would be willing to pay a difference for a finish if it was offered.
Honestly I just want to sit down with a pair of 707's. Anyone know when they will be on the market?
Do you think there would be enough demand overall to justify a production run in maple ?
I remember the rti-25's in maple and really wanted a pair but couldn't find them. I settled for black, but agree with you that maple would look fantastic. The greatest enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

There will not be a run in Maple.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
-
It's not a small bookshelf by any means.
I was just looking at the mearsurements for the 703's off the product page & they are a little taller than the lsi9's...I like that ... also like that they list x-over components in the descriptions -
There will not be a run in Maple.
Will there be more options? Is Polk even contemplating more options? Also, anyone who has seen these are they REALLy as tall as my SRS-2's? I guess being so narrow they look itty-bitty!2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.
