We're also going to need some sort of background music, for the main page. I'm thinking the Peter Gunn theme?

    Yeah, let me know.

Say, does the name have to be audio related? Seems kind of lame.

I hope not, unless we don't want to expand and have the same 50 people posting there.

i was under the impression this was indeed just for we polk folk. new members would be welcomed, but there are FAR bigger firearm forums that are already established. we won't be starting any big trends with this by any means.

Um, I hate to bust your bubble but have you ever talked to anyone who survived a zombie attack? ...crickets...crickets...crickets....I didn't think so. It can't be done.

What do you think about the name(s):

    thebrassmonkey.org
    thepolkarmy.org

Do you think I should pick out a .us or .org domain name? I'm going to pass on any .com or .net since almost every single name I've run thru them is already taken....except polkarmy, which works nicely.

I'd like the name to be simple and easy to remember.

I think for such a small group with limited membership, having a not-common TLD like .us or something would be beneficial. Gun nuts can be just as over-bearing, obnoxious and stupid as audio nuts, car nuts and so on. Having a non-common TLD is not so easy to find for the average, mouth-breathing, Internet inhabitant. It'll keep traffic manageable until the kinks get sorted out. Then, if you want more traffic, register the domain with Google and it'll get put up in the first couple pages of search results.

BTW, I like polkarmy.us or whatever too. brassmonkey is fun but kinda escapes the point of why you put this all together.

Well, in order to get everything moving, www.polkarmy.com is going to be the domain. It's been paid for and I'll mess with the basic setup today.

This is certainly down the road for after we get a domain name, but board registration can be controlled. You couldn't stop folks from reading but you can restrict posting access to members. Basically, someone has to approve their membership and it's not open enrollment. (Just mentioning an option)

As far as domain's I don't have a preference or opinion, which as I think about, it is pretty unusual for me.

Thanks for all your work on this Mark.

In preparation of the impending Zombie Apocalypse! And since having a kick a55 sound system to seriously pump out some motivational backround music to fill the spaces between rounds, Polk Audio and firearms will prove essential for survival! LOL!

yeah, it sorta would defeat the purpose NOT to be able to talk some politics and include just a bit of cursing. moderator can still stave off butthurt and fights by locking threads and warning and even banning. but we've gotta have a little freedom.
