SRT Setup - SRT L&R , SRT Center, and surrounds

I have thought about this and against my better judgement, I'm going to pass on these. I will stick with my LSi setup for now. Brett, GLWTS. If there's anyway you can hold onto these, it might be prudent. Housing interest rates are still very low, maybe you can get into a home where these can be used to their full potential?

Damn.......Damn.......Damn.....
I've been waiting a long time to see these bad boys reappear and just as my luck would have it, they are in a different state....AGAIN!
---Although they are getting closer.
I am SO tempted....
All I need is the 2 SRT fronts & (1) 18 HGS Velo to complete a 11.4 setup that I've been putting together for what seems like years....& out of the sky drops these babies....so close yet so far.
God definitely has a sense of humor.

No kidding. I got the center and the surrounds, working on getting the mains and close to clossing on them from a source on the East coast. He will ship so I'll take the chance. My 2012 HT Room - http://www.avsforum.com/t/1416077/bsoko2-new-ht-june-2012 -

I would love to ship but I would literally cry if anything happened during the shipment process.
GLWTS bsoko2...your a better man than me today.

I'm officially withdrawing from contention. Just can't deal with a 12-14hrs one-way drive and $4 gas right now, plus having no preamp.
Good luck, Brett.

TO clarify, as an absolute last resort will I ship these, for every logical reason:
1. cost
2. potential damage
3. impractical
4. cost
5. there are enough that would do the drive/pickup which makes much more sense and, to be honest, is far less of a pain in the **** than me carging them somewhere to be crated and shipped.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

Dont think you will need to ship them with Nooshin's interest in them. I am sure he's very interested in them but obviously with moving cross country next week he's gonna be a bit to pick them up.
I would say keep em sitting where they are now and work something out with him via PM to keep em in the Polk family. I believe he is even willing to make a partial down payment on them as a gesture of good faith."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Don't fret old timers...I have the "family" pair of SRT safe and sound. That deal was secured a few years ago before these newer folks stopped by and found it halfway interesting to hang out. Russman and F1Nut are the guidance counselors of all that should I not be around I picked them because they balance one another out so well.
The other Polkies have to get some now and then you know.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Why you got to be on the other side of the country? If you were on this side of the Mississippi, I'd already have them.
BDTI plan for the future. - F1Nut -
The only thing that worries me is that the Tri-lams of the period could be bright and I really don't like that....
I'm not looking for excuses to not buy, just what I remember...

Your Sunfire will do.
Parasounds also do a good job. I noticed a huge difference in tweeter harshness after switching from an Adcom.____________________________________________________________

These are still availble......nooshinjohn is interested, but I told him that I didn't want to take his money for a hold. He offered to pay in full which I told him that I wouldn't make him pay right now (based on a move), but if another buyer wanted them, I would notify him and give him the opportunity to pay in full to complete the sale.
Not sure if he's already en route to CA, but if someone else wants them and pays in full, they are available.....comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

I am still here, leaving for CA via Yellowstone National Park on Wednesday. I do still want these BADLY!!! I am 110% committed to getting them in short order once I get relocated.
That said, I concur with Brett and support his descision. I will be unable to log in or check my PM box after Monday, and will be out of touch for about ten days. I believe Brett does have my phone number, but if someone grabs these before I get back, I understand. Thanks Brett for the kindness.

I'm not in a rush......i mean, they've been sitting in a closet forever.......sadly.......
Brett,
Do you recall this post? As soon as I asked for a standby position on this you went from "not in a rush" to "first cash" and have several times invited someone, anyone to come buy these before nooshinjohn or I can get there.
I said I'd take these if nooshinjohn passes on them, he hasn't passed on them, he wants them and I'm not going to touch them until he's had his month or so to get the deal done.
That said -- and in line with my previous post about it being a month or longer to get up to SLC from Texas, I can pick them up the 23rd of June or the 9th of July (the 9th much preferred, as the 23rd takes more coordination with others).
nooshinjohn may concur with you; but, I don't. After all, "they've been sitting in a closet forever.......sadly......." -
This isn't me being a dick.......I indicated that I wouldn't take 'hold' money on them, but they would be sold to the first person that paid in full for them. That's not difficult to understand.
Nooshin later indicated he would pay for them, but because I know he's doing a cross country move, I offered to let him hold onto the cash and if another buyer stepped up, I'd notify him and give him the opportunity to pay. When I let him know this via PM, he said he may be out of range and not available to make a cutoff like that so I've sent him 2 PM's asking if he wanted to pay in full by depositing money into my bank account, but that proposal has not been answered......so I notified everyone that the speakers are still available as per all my communication with everyone.
Maybe I just should have taken the money, but I was trying to be helpful and if that's caused confusion, consider yourself clarified......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Seems like it's more convoluted than it should have been and all this hand holding shouldn't be happening. If John is ready to pay and solidify the deal, then do it. If his commitment was dependent on 10 other things happening, than it's time to move on to the next person.
I don't believe that's the case here, settle up and get them ready for him to pickup Brett....seriously. I just got off the phone with Brett. He is a great guy and more than willing to facilitate and work with me in aquiring these speakers.... That said, he and I are in complete agreement that IF ANYONE can step forward with cash in hand between now and the time I am able to meet with him and seal the deal, he can sell the speakers to whomever he likes. Let's not forget these are still his speakers, and money talks.
I have the money, but am uncomfortable with doing anything other than forking over cash on these at time of pickup, or seeing them in person. I will be in the Salt Lake area in about a week and will call Brett to meet with him and hand over some Benjamin's if they are still available at that time. I will then drive back and pick them up at a later date.
Again, should someone else step in and grab them , so be it. Until money changes hands, they are available to anyone that wants to step up. I ask however that those not interested in buying them to please treat Brett and his thread with the respect he and these legendary speakers deserve. The Gear... Hello, I am new to this forum and have also been looking for the rare and elusive SRT's. Last week some actually showed up on a site called emoo for $700. I emailed thru the site to the owner and of course they were gone. I do live in CA and have calculated about 10 hr drive 681 mi to salt lake area. Most of all I actually convinced my wife to let me go and get them lol. I have sent Bretw22 an email thru this site this morning but have not received a response. Any way I can actually get his contact info. I cant believe these speakers are still up for grabs.
-
Steelo, The SUV is gassed up ready to move out of dodge. I am dying on the vine waiting as my wife becomes more and more bitchy. Cant wait to get response from Brettw22 so I can the hell out of here and get my SRT's before my wife changes her mind lol !

Thanks for posting the PDF ... gives us wanna be owners that are too far to drive for this one something to do. I liked this from section 7 page 19 ... gotta love technical papers with a sense of humor...

Polk SRT set-up and operations manual
Thanx for the manual location. I have the center and surrounds but not the mains. Have the controller coming. I will use a set of RT2000p's for the mains when I set this up as it will be some time in the future. I tried the surrounds with my current system but in my living room mounted on a speaker stand, the bipole & dipole raised hell with my room EQ (Pio SC-37). When I calibrated with the surrounds in bipole mode, I got a 80 hz sub crossover at the reciever. When I did the same in dipole mode, I got 100 hz crossover. Crazy?
Question, How does the surrounds set up when using the new front wide speakers? You can't really put the surrounds at 90 dedgrees, they would have to be at 120 degrees. Anyone have a suggestion for using the front wides with the f/x1000p's?

The SRT control center is used to control the SRT subwoofers and to adjust the SDA effects on the main towers. It is not compatible with any other polk speaker. You don't need to connect the SRT center or rear surround to the controller. I don't understand what you mean by using the front wides with the fx1000. Dipole is generally used for surround sound while bipole is used for multichannel music.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
