    vs.

    LSi25 (straight from the manual)
    20Hz-27KHz
    30Hz-26KHz
    20-300wpc
    88db Efficiency

So, it appears that the newer LSiM has better HF extension over the older LS25 with only a drawback in the lower end 30Hz region.

But anyone with the passion for the deep bass would have one or more subs in the chain so I think it doesn't matter if you are in the 2-ch or multi-channel environment.

I still use the Lsi25 with the pair of PSW1000 for the lower end.

These hit closer to the 30hz mark than the LSi25 ever alluded to doing....and without a powered subwoofer.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm not going to make any solid statements, but the frequency sweeps and tones were flat into the mid to low 20's, and they went subsonic after that. You do not need a subwoofer for music, under any circumstance, not even for the most obscene bass laden trance or hip hop. It pressurized the room if you wanted it to. That's why I actually wanted to run the 705's, as they would have been more suited to the size of the room - which is probably comparable to the avg size small living room.

Home theater, especially with Blu-Ray, I'd probably hook up a Micropro 4000 just for the T-Rex effects.

I'll ask the local Texas membership to post their thoughts again, in my large living room, properly setup this weekend. It should be a better 'real world' scenario to pass judgement on.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Well, I've already got a bunch typed up, and will have a formal review soon, as soon as I get them setup in house - everything is still in the garage in boxes from the show right now. It's more work than you think. They actually make me a little bit sad, chew on that until I post. ;)

Russ - Are you going to get some print time from Stereomojo about these? Maybe send Marcmarc from the dead Affordable Audio a PM and see if you he's got a line with the place he merged with, HiFi Zine. I think Polk supported his efforts here thru Club Polk, you'd think there would be some get back for all that.

I think Jake(Zingo) is an active writer or contributor....maybe drop him a line. He's a cool guy.

James Darby and I are still very close, but because of my association with Polk, I'm going to post my review on a private blog. I am not currently doing reviews for Stereomojo at this time.

    Let's talk offline, and discuss.

Russ is correct a demo disk with large variance and some deep digging tunes drove these real deep. Trust me they will most certainly drive any genre without needing a sub
