And God Bless Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton!

Nice to see tradition, and a proper monarchy still revered as such. She's not a commoner, she's a looker Sir William!

Cheers,
Russ

You sound kinda like a commonwealther there... I didn't realize North Texas went all the way up into Canada.

But I hear ya, she is smokin. He unfortunately got his uncle's hairline, but still a good enough looking kid.

    That's a joke, right?

Monarchy should be ridiculed, not revered. They're a figurehead put in power solely on the basis of their heritage, not their deeds.

Hmmm, seem it has been more stable than what we have going on here with our "free and open" elections.

The music was beautiful - almost as beautiful as the bride. I was happy to hear the music, "I Was Glad" when Kate walked down the aisle - when I've sung that song it always gave me goosebumps. My favorite part of the coverage (I think I was watchign NBC) was when the queen was seen for the first time, and the fashion commentator said, "Dear Lord, the Queen is wearing yellow again".

I'll take our free and open elections over a monarchy any day.

Personally, I couldn't care less about it. We fought two wars a couple hundred years ago so I wouldn't have to care anymore.

BTW, that Kate Middleton chick is pretty nice looking but I think her sister Pippa is better looking.

:biggrin:ROTFLMAO!!!! God Save The Queen is right. She just keeps toolin along @ 85 years old & I believe Philip is going to be 90 this year!

When she goes, there will never be another like her, the rest of the clan simply doesn't have her fortitude, class, or sense of responsibility to what the family means to the majority of Great Britain.

Poor William, to be so young & already having a receding hairline & almost bald spot in the back. Kate looked absolutely beautiful & extremely happy. I wish them both a long & happy marriage!

Actually, European monarchies dragged us through the first world war and set up the next one. Not impressed at all by all their inbred governing abilities. A lot of Americans died in the past because of these bozos. IMO it's a good thing they're just a sideshow now. Can you imagine if Charles were actually given all the governing powers when he becomes king?

I got up to see the whole thing in order to keep my history teacher wife company. She had a blast.

Although I'm tired of listening to the talking heads, I do recall the support through the years from our older cousins across the pond. I embrace their rich history, their culture, their tradition, but most of all, the warmth of their people. So, when they throw a wedding party, I will raise my glass and wish them good health and Godspeed.

For who else do we call friends out there who do not reply with an outstretched hand, palm up?

    +1 Russ!

+1 I admire the Brits for their devotion to God,Queen and country. Throughout WW2, in the darkest of times, the will of the British people never faltered and never gave up. I would be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder and go into battle with them against the enemy.

I have no problem calling the British people good friends and allies. And I suppose cheers are in order for their 'party'. But idolizing the monarchy as if it was actually a better more stable alternative when they have governing power to our form of democracy (lifted in part from British democratic reforms) is more than a bit ironic.

So cheers and best wishes for the British people!

I haven't paid a single minute's-worth of attention to anything involving the wedding...but now I'm really curious as to what the bride and bride's sister look like!

Someone post some pics...I can't find any on Google because of the filtering we use here. Almost every picture I can find is hosted on a "blog" website, which is banned.

Here. Kate is on the left, Pippa is on the right.

Another one added, Kate on the left, Pippa in the middle.

Kate is certainly a beautiful young lady but I think Pippa has it all over her sister.
