Yes, a film that is the culimination and the antithesis of eighteen years of brilliant propaganda films produced by party writers, directors, and actors in Hollywood !

It is a classic propaganda film since it hides its true message under a thin veil of humor.

Starring such treasonous, international lackies as .... Melvyn Douglas. James Coburn. James Garner. Keenan Wynn. And that despicable foreign temptress, notorious femme fatale ..... Julie Andrews !!
That usurper of precious bodily fluids herself !!!

This film is a direct insult to the UNITED STATES NAVY.
Not only that (as if that isn't bad enough), but it is an indirect but subtle attack on that Imperialic J** Admiral Rickover !!:eek:

And as if THAT wasn't bad enough, be warned that this film also attacks the Anglo-American Alliance by showing American Officers purchasing the sexual favors of English female personnel with candy, perfume, and party dresses !!

That's unheard of !!
At least I never heard of it ! Candy ?! You can do that ? Wish I knew that when I was in the Navy (although I must admit I don't know what constitutes a "party dress").

And finally: perhaps this shouldn't be mentioned because it is so sordid, so despicable, so ..... well, here it is; this film has the usual propaganda touch by having a Navy officer portrayed by a star whom all the teenagers know is a homosexual !:frown:
Oh .... my ..... gawd !! Now, I'm not sure which star they're talking about, but I suggest we treat every star in this film as if they were homosexual !
(DISCLAIMER:not that that's a bad thing).
Or at least until one consults with a teenager; they'll know.

Oh, the name of this film ?

"The Americanization of Emily" ...... *shudder* ..... can barely speak the words.

My source of information ? FBI vaults, online.

I'm confused...besides your suppressed homophobia, what's so bad about this film? Kids and teenagers aren't likely to be watching this movie, and most adults are already set enough in their ways that watching this won't sway them much.

Oh, and common dating practices (typically, in order to have sex with a girl you have to do some "wooing" first...dinner, date, food, presents, etc) aren't much different from what you're saying is shown in the movie.

Apparently to some folks possibly "liking to dress up like a woman" makes you "not a man."

I do share ryanjoachim's confusion... I have no idea what mrbbl is trying to say in the original post, other than that he hated this movie (that is over 40 years old, by the way, so who gives a ****?)

Maybe you're joking, but no. The way one chooses to dress (or who they choose to bang) has no bearing on their gender, however much your machismo may not like it.

May be this is too advanced theory but I can't catch up with it. If a man turns on by wearing woman clothes and bang or be banged, so be it. It's a person's free choice.

But gender (male or female) is what comes naturally at birth. And there are very rare chances that some babies born with both gender at birth and parents have to decide for them and perform the proper surgical operations.

I... have no idea what you're trying to say. I do not believe J Edgar Hoover was anything but a normal biological male who allegedly had some weird fetish. He's no more "half a man" than you would be if you didn't like sports.

My comment is in General terms. Nothing related to the movie or J Edgar Hoover at all.

I got the idea what you mean by "if you didn't like sports" though. There are some sports you like, and some you don't like and may be none at all but still be a man.

I'm just glad that my comment was not taken the way I meant it to be.
To clarify - many men who dress as women, do so because they feel more comfortable in the role of a woman. I wasn't bashing on cross-dressing or anything like that.

    Kudos to me!

Come on Bobman. You're generally quicker than that:wink: I think you should re-read Senor BBL's post, as I don't think it was a critique of the film itself.

Ryan - BBl a "homophobe"! I can definitely see him having a crippling dependency on the use of "homophones" in his writings... but "homophobe"? Something tells me that probably isn't the case.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore
