Come on Bobman. You're generally quicker than that:wink: I think you should re-read Senor BBL's post, as I don't think it was a critique of the film itself.

Ryan - BBl a "homophobe"! I can definitely see him having a crippling dependency on the use of "homophones" in his writings... but "homophobe"? Something tells me that probably isn't the case.

Whew !!! Thanks ZB2000: I was starting to worry!!!

I have to blame any misconceptions on 2 things:
    1. I was at work, posting and reading tech manuals at the same time
(retain information a lot better that way)
    2. I was .... well .... entertaining myself again.
(that can get me into trouble)

While cracking the madness behind our BAS, I noticed a desktop icon, couldn't remember what it was for, and the "FBI Vault" came up. Sitting there with a tech manual reminded me of studying in the RC shop aboard ship, and thought of "Rickover". Did a search, and came up with the page (56) that showed an FBI's agent report to J. Edgar Hoover.

... along with the phrase, "Imperialistic J** Rickover".

I got a kick out of that. A real big kick out of that. Was Rickover "imperialistic" ? Oh, heck yeah. He may have had a God complex, but he had all the qualifications, so it was justifiable and accepted. In the Navy, Rickover was GOD. No holds barred.

    But "Imperialist J** Rickover" ?
Scrolled back to the top of the entry, started reading the whole relatively brief memo, and .... holy cow !

Insane. Pure insanity. Paranoia ? I'd say, "Yes", on a tin-foil hat level.

Now, when I posted, I thought I did it over-the-top enough that it was obvious that it wasn't my viewpoints expressed

    Like:
"And that despicable foreign temptress, notorious femme fatale ..... Julie Andrews !! That usurper of precious bodily fluids herself !!!"

I figured, well, nobody sees Julie Andrews as a despicable foreign temptress (although she is from Britain and may bear watching, not unlike Canadaians !). Or a notorious femme fatale (although, as obeione pointed out, she did show her bejeebers in the movie "Victor/Victoria" ).

That's also why I posted FBI verbatim quotes in blue.

    So when I wrote,

"has the usual propaganda touch by having a Navy officer portrayed by a star whom all the teenagers know is a homosexual !

    That was the FBI talking.

"Usual progaganda touch" ? "Whom all the teenagers know" ?
What the hello dolly is that ?!

Remember, this is an FBI report to J. Edgar Hoover from an FBI agent.
What stuck me is that this agent was writing a report that, to me, pandered to what his BOSS was looking for: J**ws, Commie propaganda, homosexuals, etc.
Did this FBI agent truly believe the "findings" in his "report". Or did he realize that it was full of malarkey but was the path to advancement so he wrote what J. Edgar Hoover was looking for, the truth be dammed. Juice the report up: not just "J*ws", but "Imperialistic J**ws", throw in the Commie angle, and just a dash of homosexual, and you've made yourself some "Success Stew" !

And I'm not homophobic. As a matter of fact, I drive a Neon and am pretty sure there's a Polkie on here that also drives a Neon but who is ****.
So that pretty much proves that point.
Although I must admit, that annual Parade thing in San Francisco makes me kind of uncomfortable. But so does some of the stuff that goes on down at Mardis Gras every year. So that also proves .... uhm .... something. I think.

BTW: I think "Homophones" are all write. Sorry to here that sum on here may be anti-homophonics.

This is what happens when you skim posts. I'm an idiot. ;)

No, actually it's because my original link just showed the FBI vault home page.

    This link:

    http://vault.fbi.gov/search?SearchableText=rickover

will bring up a page with 2 "rickover" links.

Click on the " Walter Winchell Part 56 of 58 ".

I drive a Neon. Some Polkies have even seen me in it. Are you trying to out me?

Because, you know... my girlfriend reads this site from time to time and I would hate to have to come out of the closet accompanied by various pictures of cats.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Rickover was insane, as were/ are all his followers! They're all just slightly askew of the centerline.
    Like 'gingers'

Oh, it's true ! There's been scientific studies done with graphs and charts and other scientific kinds of stuff.

My next sympathy/support purchase is waiting for results on what sort of vehicles the French Secessionists in Canada drive before I make my next vehicle purchase. I just hope it isn't "Snowmobiles".
