I used to dabble for years in this kind of stuff. It was a blast and that's an understatement. That said, there are many here that probably have much more experience than I. It has been many moons ago that I did this.

Most of the setups I did were in auditoriums and places that were many times larger than that of a home set-up. The two are completely separate animals. I can not lie. Thank you for your interest, though.

Thank you for being honest with me about pro amps and their pros/cons.

I'm going to check out some Bryston pro gear to see if I can get a demo:

The Crown amps I heard in a recording studio were very good sounding also...

The Bryston pro stuff is identical to the consumer stuff, except that they add a 19" rackmount faceplate and a gain control to each channel. My brystons are actually the pro models since I got them from a guy that sells studio gear.

Anyhow, they're probably overkill for what you're doing; ceiling speakers, outdoor speakers, 70v, etc aren't going to benefit from a bryston. Now, if you're doing a few different high quality 2 channel applications, then you'd absolutely do well w/ Brystons, but that is going to get expensive. Very expensive.

Thanks, I guess I will be looking one or two notches down for amplification as most of my listening is at low levels and while I am doing something (house cleaning, for example). XM Radio will be the main source, along with Pandora (gotta love this) and the Onkyo 5-disc changer. I am looking for a warm, easy to listen to sound as most of the hi-fi rigs I've heard such as Focal JMLab Grand Utopia's or B&W 800 series were just too bright (and fatiguing) for my taste.

Again, thanks for ALL the help!!

Is there any way you could add a tube buffer or something along that line to warm it up a tad?
