Hi guys!! I am planning to have a pair of RTiA9's for the fronts and a CSiA6 for my center for my HT. I really like a LOT of bass. Would a Def Tech SuperCube I be overkill? Would a PAIR of SuperCube I's be too much. I'd really like some feedback on what you guys think. (BTW the room housing the HT is approximately 2400 cubic feet with one door opening at the rear of the room.)

What's your total budget for subs?

Approximately $2k. I've really been considering the SVS PB13 Ultra, but the one big drawback is that I don't want a footlocker in my HT room.

Before you look at twin subs...

What will you be powering the Rti A9's with?

A good seperate amp will help open the A9's up.

I plan on using an Emotiva XPA-2 to power the A9's. I am really going back and forth about having a monster sub because the A9's woofers will handle everything from 120 Hz downward. But, as I wrote earlier, I like a LOT of bass!!

The Micropro 4000 very well could be in the running. I like the fact that it is a Polk sub and that it is small compared to other subs in its class.

I like my RELs. They blend very nicely and supports the base of my 12s instead of replacing it. I like the footprint and the cherry matches my system. Good luck in your quest.

I really appreciate all the great feedback that I've gotten so far. I REALLY would like to hear from someone who has the RTiA9's paired with a SuperCube I. Are you out there???

I have RTI A9's with a SVS PB12 NSD and the SVS kicks butt!

I would go with as much sub as you can get, that way you will not second guess yourself later.
There is a thread about EPIC subs being discussed now and they are still on sale.

    http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/empire.html

Have you heard any of the subs that you are looking at or asking about?

Try getting a listen to the SVS PB13 Ultra, it will floor you on how low it can go and handle the bass!
I heard one but was too much for my wallet; I went with the SVS PB12 NSD and still get a grin when listening to it! The shine has not wore off!

    Good luck in your search!

I can't say in specifics related to the RTiA9's, but I second the Epik recommendation. I run the Epik Sentinel and love it! Loved it so much, got a second one from Leroy here! Still sitting in the box though :(

I've looked at the PB12 and the PB13. The '12 is a slightly smaller footlocker than the '13 and it costs about $500 less than the '13. (Maybe I'll use the difference to buy a pair of 8 foot runs of Kimber Kable 8TC.)

I'd go with a pair of Micropro 4000s over SC1s. DT wildly inflates their claims as to amp power and frequency response. I own an Ultra13 and it's a wonderful sub that will get you reference level bass in most rooms with deep extention. Of course it's big and will eat your budget. The Plus has a similar sound quality and is about 3dbs down from the Ultra for max output. The Epik Empires are slightly smaller and not as pretty, but have similar output to the Plus and at the price for a pair, are a seriously good deal.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

I have a pair of rti a9's that i have been using for about 10 months now. I orginaly had the micropro 4000 with it, but the micropro sounded weak. I like you love bass, and I mean a lot of base. I went out and found a hsu vtf 3 ho sub with the turbo for under 400$ locally(yeah i got lucky). Now the rti a9 go really low but with the hsu sub its a monster. I mean my whole man room shakes and its about 3000 cubic sq feet. I dont have a dedicated amp( would love to add one though). So that my two cents. stay away from the micropro subs. Get a real sub like hsu vtf 15 or the new svs with the sledge hammer amp. You wont regret it. WE have almost the same setup minus the amp. Ill be curious on what you pick:biggrin:

SVS or Epik. You will love that beast of a sub once you hear it. I loved mine so much I added a second along with an EQ.

I'd kill for another MicroPro 4000 (I have one paired with my A9s), but damned if I can find any for sale. Anywhere. Well other than Amazon.com which is uber expensive. I got mine from J&R when they first came out for the lovely price of $1k vs. the MSRP of >$1700, but jeez, can't find any around anywhere anymore. Can find lots of 3000s and 1000s, but no 4000s.

And I have an AVR that can make use of dual subs (Yamaha RX-A3000).
