I was browsing in the store and flipped a coin...heads I buy, tails I don't.

It's been at least 5 or 6 years since I had a cell phone.

Oh...it's a 4g Iphone. I figured since I have an Ipad, I may as well have an Iphone.

Wow! I can't imagine not having one (some day, you'll say this too, I think). Use the caller ID to keep your sanity.

Hell, I haven't had a land line in over ten years.

Although I hate Apple in general, that is a great smart-phone, enjoy!

I've had a cell phone since they came out, don't know why really, I barely use it. I can see the attraction for those on the go all the time. Mine is used more so for emergency. For the most part,I don't like to be bothered with senseless chatter. I think my hatred for cell phones started way before, when beepers were all the rage. Every 2 seconds that annoying beep when your in the middle of something. Now it's that annoying ring, to ask "what am I doing ?" AAARG!!! Everyone's lifestyle is different, and for some,I can't imagine doing without one. I will admit, while traveling, having access to the web has proved it's worth.

I had a free cell phone for about a year, a friend had one on contract, and gave it to me until the contract ran out. He thought once I had one for awhile, I wouldn't be able to live without it. Never used it much, and don't miss it one bit.

I do IT work for a living, and can get a free cell from my employer. Like I want them calling me 7 days a week. No thanks.

I'm with you here Tony. I got one in the early 2000s just so that my mom could always reach me. I still have one, but most of the time it's in my bag off. If I use it 3 times a month that's pushing it. But it does come in handy.

Ok I'm making progress. I entered all 25 phone numbers that I had scribbled on the back of one single business card onto my cell phone. My sister loaded me up with a bunch of "must have" apps and I managed to hang up by mistake on the first person that called me.

I can't get the email to work though, it says "mail server not responding" even though I carefully copied the exact settings from my pc.

I've had a cell phone for a long time. I think it was 1995 when I got the first one. But it's always been a phone, and used for talking when needed.

Last December I gave in and upgraded to data plan for the family and got smart phones. I always said "phones are for talking, and that's it". Now? I love my blackberry. It's a phone. It's a GPS. I can browse internet, read/send email. I stream music from pandora to my car radio. I can play games. Pictures, video.......you name it.

I should've gotten one years ago.

I'd really rather not have one, but my employer provides one for me, and expects my to have it with me during work hours.

When I'm not at work, it's with me at my discression.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Whats with the hate for cell phones? You can use it just as often or as little as a land line except it provides the extra freedom of being able to go with you. Just because you have one doesn't mean you need to use it all the time or even have it on. At the very least they are perfect for emergency situations.

I'd be willing to bet that what most people actually hate is that obnoxious person screaming on their cell phone in the elevtor, or the teenage idiot who almost side swipes you because they are too busy texting, or the family member who calls you non-stop and expects you to answer because you should have your phone on.

Cell phones are like woman. There always trying to get your attention when your in the middle of doing something but at least with a cell phone you can turn it off or ignore it. Try that with a woman.

This is the number one reason I won't own ether.

I got one about a year ago for the first time because my Mom was in the hospital and I had trouble finding out what was going on because I was on the road. I use it maybe once a month. I got the cheapest deal I could find. One year for $90. I could text but never do. If someone texts me I don't look at it - I just delete it. I've avoided getting one for years because I am in IT and they would love for you to be available 24/7. Having done production support I ain't going back.
My wife has an Android and pays $60 a month for the privilege. I don't see a smart phone being worth that much. Maybe if it was a lot cheaper, I would consider it. I could go all the way up to $15 a month. :-)

Some people are anti-technology. And they are just missing out on convienence because they would rather be hard headed and act like they dont need it.

That sums it up for me, although $15 is pushing it. Cost versus convenience. At this point it is to expensive for my tastes. I would rather spend $1300 on a good Shunyata AC power cord. Actually, I bought two.
