I have never done this before so I have a question re using my Pioneer Elite as a pre with a power amplifier. When I do this, does it mean I can use the avr to control volume of the amplifier?

If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

To add, you will not lose any functionality or features from your Pioneer.

I am using a SONY ES 5300 as a pre/pro, all functions remain the same, the speakers are connected to the amp, the receiver is connected to the amp from the pre-outs on the receiver to the inputs on the amp . As far as sound fields, speaker adjustments, all remain the same from your remote to your receiver.Emotiva XPA5, Sony ES 5300,: Lsi 15,s LSIC, Monitor 70,s, ( side surrounds) FXI 3,s, (rear surrounds)Micropro4000, Velodyne DEQ 10, Sony 55inchXBR 930D Sony BDP 790 Bedroom rig SonyES 3200 RTIA1,s CSIA4 FXI3,s polk PSW 10 SONY 34inch XBR960:cool:SONY BDP550

I have a Pio SC-37 and a Carver Grand Cinema amp. The SC-37 is used as a prepro and all functions work just as if you were using the onboard amps of the reciever. No difference, so go ahead and use your Pioneer as a prepro.

With such a great amp section already in ICE , whats the need for the big bad boy Grand Cinema?I have a Pio SC-37 and a Carver Grand Cinema amp. The SC-37 is used as a prepro and all functions work just as if you were using the onboard amps of the reciever. No difference, so go ahead and use your Pioneer as a prepro.

Well I've hooked it up and am very pleased with the results. I seem to get better separation and music seems to envelop you with the sda effect. Base seems very controlled as well."They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde
