Why does this happen everytime prices go up, but yet, nothing ever becomes of it. Give up people, your just plain stupid if you think internet stunts like this do anything.

If you really wanna make a statement , buy an electric or hybrid car. Get off the fossil fuel.

I wonder if plugging in with a good power cable while recharging improves performance

Seriously, where in the f@(% do you think the electricity will come from if we all switch to electric cars.

The current media freak out after the 1,000 year time-horizon quake in Japan solidifies the shut down of what's left of the nuclear program here. We haven't built a new nuke in what, 30 years? We've put the whammy on coal, stopped drilling in the gulf.

I repeat, Dan, where in the f@(% do you think the electricity will come from if we all switch to electric cars. The wind? Solar?

It only costs the equivalent of about $10 per gallon to do it that way.

Who ever said bend over hit it right on the head.

EXACTLY. I do not understand what the hype is with electric cars. Is this like a can't see it so it isn't happening sort of thing? Environmentalists tell me their going electric when they get out of college... I tell them to stock up on coal.

    I liked hydrogen better.

Whether it is true or not I do not know, but what I have read about electric cars is that currently there is more than enough electrical capacity to charge the cars. The caveat is that most of it needs to be done at night during low usage periods. Of course, there probably is some point where there are so many cars the demand will exceed the capacity. Along the same line, the cost to operate these cars is less than an equivalent gasoline only car, but the purchase price is higher.

So I guess it is a toss up as what to buy if you are trying to get a high mileage, low emission vehicle. You need to decide whether gas or electricity is going to increase at a faster rate.

I guess a mass public transit system like high speed rail would make more sence. If school busses were more stylish and avalable in other colors besides yellow. You would be seeing socker moms driving in them by their self to work and back. Got to have the bigest, badest you know.

Natural gas , Wind and Solar are all ways to get electric power. Hydrogen is another alternative to gas. I don't know about you but I'm really tired of paying over 3 dollars a gallon for gas. If there is a better way then I'm all for it. I'm not an Engineer in this field so I don't have the answers but I know at some point we all need to get off the oil.

Theres gotta be a better way.
I don't know about the rest of you but I'd rather buy cd's then spend a few hundred a month on gas. With the price increase I'm around $320.00 a month for 2 trucks thats an average of about $40.00 a week each truck. That could be a + or - of around $30.00 , thats a lot of money to me.

If I could cut that down to $200.00 a month I'd be a very happy camper. I could use the $120.00 a month to finance a new system , go on vacation , apply it to my mortgage or tax bills. At any rate I have to figure out a way to lower my costs to drive. Increasing gas prices really doesn't help , I didn't see my paycheck go up.

The bottom line is the government is going to nail us no matter what we do if they are in control of our means of fueling our transportation. What are we going to do with all those depleted batteries when they are spent?

A 2x4 solar pannel can barely charge a 12v car battery in a day. Not going to work charging a bank of batteries in an electric car.

So was I. Ever look into the price of the panels? I have, and I know people that use them. A good book on them is the "Solar living" book. It covers a lot more than just solar.

I love how mad people get at the IDEA that there might be electric cars out there. ANGRY! GRRRR! At least those peopel are TRYING something to disrupt the status quo, while you dips**ts keep buying giant trucks and the only thing you know to do is **** on the Internet about gas prices, which aren't going to change no matter how hard you yell.

At least there are options with how to create electricity, and there are OPTIONS with how to deal with depleted batteries. There's ONE option on how to get gasoline.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Remember solar is evolving technology and panels become ever more efficient with time. Cost is now half of what it was ten years ago too!

Electric and or hybrid gas/electric vehicles would be fine if they didn't cause more harm than good.

    1. Mine nickel
    2. Ship to another country via diesel vessel to create a foam that is part of the battery.
    3. Ship to another country via diesel vessel to be placed in said vehicle.
    4. Ship to another country via diesel vessel to be purchased by consumer.

Before the car is even used by a consumer it has used thousands of gallons of diesel fuel.

    Better plan,
    1. Have your current vehicle serviced regularly.
    2. Have your tires check regularly.
    3. Learn how to drive more efficiently.
