I found my xbox360 this morning while looking for my sl2000 tweeters I'm sending for karma. I have a ps3 now but have found that most of the adults still use 360. So tonight I'm hooking it back and reactivating my 360 live account.

    Look for the IslandBerserker!

Its about time! I've had a pending friend request with you for 2 months now!

Yep, I still play on the xbox, but I installed the new video card late last night (Thanks Praz!!) and also picked up a Razer Nostromo cheap on Craigslist to try out since I just cant seem to get the hang of WASD for movement. We'll see how that works out tonight possibly.

How's the card working? nice keyboard :) Yeah you'll get the hang of it - that and adjusting your mouse sensitivity will help. I tend to speed it up when I'm in a tank / LAV and slow it down when I'm on foot (using a Logitech G500 - but MX518 is a good oldy as well).

I don't know yet about the card. I installed it and booted up but had to download a 150 mb driver file that took forever from Nvidia's server (like 15Kbps for some reason). So I started the download and jumped on the xbox for a bit to get my recon service star then went to bed. I'll try out BF3 tonight with the new card.

So I have every ribbon except one now. I still need to get the air warfare ribbon (kill 6 enemies with jet and/or copter in one round). I have never been able to get any air kills. I can fly the jets and choppers ok, however trying to kill anything with the jet is proving to be impossible for me. I can get a few copter kills but can't get more than a few per round.

I'll be trying tonight to get my final ribbon. I wonder if flying a jet in to a soldier would count as a kill...........

great, I found my xbox and the drive door wouldn't open. I'm usually pretty good at getting them open, but no go here. I have another one that has a ring of death so I'm going to send them both off to be fixed by my brother in law who has a store that fixes game consoles. Gadget Guru in Baltimore. If anyone has anything negative about them let me know. It's a brother in law, not a brother.

Pardon me for being lazy and not looking back up the thread, but do you have BF3 on XBOX or on PC?

This happened to me a few times. If its still under warranty, I'd say definitely send it in. If not, you can use a paper clip to open it. Be sure to unplug it though:wink:

I got a chance to play it on a friends pc a few days ago, and its as I figured. Rush is about the same (as xbox) but conquest is ten times better on the pc, 24 players is just not enough.

How are you with the transitioning to the new controls? I had a real rough time. Using keys as the left analog stick felt awkward, but aiming was a bit more natural. I always felt the looking sensitivity for the vehicle was too slow on the xbox, but thats not a problem for the pc (plus there is a sensitivity scroll bar for vehicles, which is non-existent for xbox?)

For now I'm on ps3, and I don't have any gamertags to add from polk forum. What is your ps3 gamertag?

    mine is IslandBerserker

I was online last night and found some of the advanced games where friendly fire is done so that if you accidentally shoot a friend, the bullet ricochets and hits you instead. The spawn is also immediate, no delay time to get back in. It was fun, and fast.

Well, I am the worst at the keyboard controls, so it is very difficult for me to get used to WASD for movement and finding all of the keys for things like grenade, prone, crouch and so on. On the other hand, I love using the mouse for aiming. It is so much faster than an xbox controller. The best example I can think of is in the Huey or transport helicopter when you are manning the minigun. Have you ever tried to aim and hit anything on the xbox wit that thing? It moves so damn slow, by the time you line up your shot your target is gone. On the PC with the mouse it is instant. I was able to keep aimed at a tank with no problem from the minigun. It's the same on foot, being able to spin left or right and aim is just that much faster and more responsive. I wish the xbox was like that. Now to just get used to the keyboard.

Reminds of the good old days playing Counter-Strike on the PC (is this still popular or even played? I have not been in PC gaming in long time). The keyboard/mouse combo was awesome and I had so much control. Took me a while to get used to the console controllers.

Now you know why I was complaining the few times I joined you guys on Xbox ;) Make sure you a good mouse though, that can adjust the dpi setting on the fly. Something like Logitech MX518 or a G500 - I find that I prefer different mouse speeds depending on whether I'm on foot or in a tank.

So I'm house sitting for my parents while they're off in India (taking care of the dog lol). I have an older machine (Q6700, 16GB RAM) I built for them that's running Windows Server 2008 R2 - dad is using it for some cloud computing venture he's involved with. Anyway - my main monster rig is just too big to bring over here, so I thought I'd install BF3 here so I'll at least have that for the next 2 weeks. I had to install some stuff & make some registry additions, but finally got the game working (it was erroring out initially). I added an eVGA GTX 560 Ti 448 core FTW to the mix, so hopefully it plays as well as the GTX 580 in my rig.

Great, maybe now I'll see you online. I played for a few hours last night with a guy from work, but it was a 24/7 Metro server, so it wasn't the most exciting thing.

Yeah sorry - I was a bit busy the last 2 weeks. But since I'll pretty much have nothing better to do at the parents' house, I should be on in the evenings.

I've been playing B2K maps w/ high tickets mostly - sometimes I catch Face on as well.

Are you getting the hang of the PC game?

I'm getting there. I just cant get over 800 or 1000 ticket games. I had 82 revives in 2 rounds last night and ended up with over 7000 points in one round. That never happens on Xbox.

I just got the expansion kit Saturday for ps3, and wow, some of these new maps are nuuuuuuts! I've got a good handle on the choppers, but still just 11 points on the jets, even though I can fly them fairly well now. I need some peeps to join up on the larger maps that knows whats going on, I have the citv upgrade for tanks and can't get anyone to run guided shells to take down choppers and planes.

I turned on my Xbox for the first in over a month to play BF3.
    What angers me is
    A. Everybody still has better guns than I!
    B. Now that I am one month more mature than last time i played, I still suck!

And Finally...Everytime i went to knife a guy, i'd huck a grenade at him instead!................

lol - yeah Operation Metro will do that. It's pretty much a bloodbath for the team that doesn't take the ticket area. That's like my 1040+ M98 sniper kills ... B2K maps are just too much fun w/ the sniper guns :) I managed a 773m head shot the day before yesterday...I get some weird gratification from it.

Unlock the Famas for a better gun. Its an easy unlock at 10 heals and 10 revives and you will have the fastest RPM (1000) gun in the game. That might help you a bit.

Edit: until it gets nerfed, that is.

I got the Famas while playing. WTH are these assignments and how come nothing i had done before counted towards them? Was i playing in the wrong mode? Is it an add with the B2K DLC?

As a side note, i'm still a kick ****$ medic. I heal dudes in the middle of maps, no cover, guns out of ammo, and 6 enemies commencing tea-bagging.

Yeah, the assignments were added with the B2K pack. That's why none of your previous work counts towards them. You can see in your Battlelog profile how close you are to unlocking each one under the Assignments tab. Here's a list of the 10 assignments:

    Professional Russian:
    100 kills with assault rifles

    Win 5 squad deathmatch rounds
    Unlocks L85A2

    Fixing It:
    10 Repairs
Kill 1 enemy with the repair tool
    Unlocks HK53, It Goes Boom!

    It Goes Boom!:
    50 AT rocket kills
Destroy one enemy vehicle with the repair tool
    Win 5 conquest rounds
    Unlocks QBZ-95B

    Let It Rain:
    20 Kills with LMG's
    2 mortar kills
Unlocks QBB-95, Keep Your Head Down

    Keep Your Head Down:
    100 kills with LMG's
    50 suppression assists

    Arm 10 MCOM's
    Capture 10 flags
    Play 2 hours on Karkand
    Unlocks PP-19, Scarred Veteran

    Scarred Veteran:

My bad on mentioning advanced games, I was thinking of cod mw3. I go back in forth between the two, but battlefield is by far my favorite. I hate trying to get the hang of the knife in one game then having troubles in the other.
Thanks for the list of unlocking guns, that will really help me!

I was once a pretty dang good Navy Field-trained hospital corpsman (8404) with a bit real of real overseas experience, so I think I'll try getting some unlocks going that route.

evhudsons nice playing with online last night. Sorry I did not stay on that long after you joined, but I was tired, and ready for bed. I might be on tonight maybe, but if not I should be on friday. I like TDM the most, but I am willing to play the other ones as well. So, if at anytime you want to play another game mode either let me know or send an invite, and I will join. side note: I dont quit games while in the middle of them so if I dont join right away that is because I am in a game.
