Why does the phrase "hell in a handbasket" keep Popping in my head?

I love how people that comment are called the "peanut gallery" as if we never heard a pair of maggies before

Also. Many of the " peanut gallery" owned polks and moved on... We try not to make it look disparaging to polk though, this being there web site and all

Was the magneplaner graphic really nessecary to driving the point home? Seriously?

I owned a pair and sold them a few months later. If you can integrate a sub with them, they can sound very nice for music.

the whole thing that makes Maggies magical to a degree seems to be a) they are ribbons/panel and b) bipole

in 2 channel, with a sub integrated, they can be unbelievably open, airy, like you dont even have speakers. I absolutely get why people love them.

I gotta imagine alligning 5 of these to where soundwaves arent bouncing all over the joint to be a forehead smashing labor. almost defeats the purpose, unless these maggies in particular are geared more for home theater.

I remember Mark's Maggie rig from Polkfest 05, when everyone was asking "hey, that sounds awesome, is the sub even on?" that meant the sub was pretty much about as well integrated as it could get. i wonder if that can be done for home theater where your integrating a sub with 5 diferent channels, and often multiple crossover points

Ummm......yeah, I'm the one that requested your two threads on the exact SAME subject be condensed into one. I was hoping you would take the hint to stop with your nonsense of making multiple threads on the exact SAME subject, but my doubts have been confirmed. To which I say to you sir, you are the idiot.

    Congrats on the new gear!

For HT everyone needs a sub and most speakers are left crossed over at 80 htz so who needs that bass . The sweet spot rule only really applies for critical listening during 2 channel , no one does critical listening when you have company

Really? No one does critical listening when they have company? What?

I do plenty of critical listening when I have company. Being a tremendous fan of music, the majority of my friends are just as into music as me. They love to come over to my house and listen to my stereo. Many times I've had friends come over because they got a new CD and they want to listen to it on my stereo.

This is kind of an interesting topic...I may post a thread on this. I wonder how many people here do their critical listening exclusively by themselves and how many do at least some of their critical listening with other people.

I'm sure many people aren't able to do any real critical listening with another person there. Some people are incapable of sitting with someone else and not saying anything though I suppose...not sure why that is.

I think you'll be fine with just one thread on this exact same topic. I could kind of see your point if you had actually asked any questions(you didn't)...but not really.

I would like to thank Bernal for his input.
His remarks have allowed me to accomplish an upgrade.

No, not from Lsi's to Maggies. Not an audio upgrade.

It's a mathematical upgrade of sorts.

I've always postulated this: "You can't equate class with money."

I've upgraded that postulate to a full blown theorem.

I must credit Bernal for his input in achieving this upgrade.

    Thank you, Bernal.

    speakers are like gloves....

Many fit but some fit better...

and you might like the style of one pair but feel the need to change pairs for a slightly different fit and style... from time to time...

    so whatever fits, wear it.

and keep on trying on different pairs / just for the hell of it.

Today I learned that two-channel or stereo system is equal to home theater. Thank. You've invented a new postulate, stereo systems can be discussed in a single thread. Question: will close the forum "2-channel audio" from today. I'm an idiot for opening this thread.

The guiding principle learned is to listen our audio system more than ask advice to others about their components, configurations and settings because sometimes we get subjective opinions, others are not true and others come from inexperienced people.
