Unbelieveable, after all these years I got caught off guard and got rick rolled on youtube.
Confession time, what music do you like that you know is cheeseball?
Me:
Barry Manilow...I know, I suck--hand over the mancard, but it's hard to walk away from a Manilow song without it being stuck in your head all day.

Hah, that's a great song from the 70's; no shame there. Apparently that was the first song I latched on to as a child though, so I'm biased.
Hmm, confession time?
I like Rihanna's voice. I know it's pop schlock, but her voice hits a good spot for me for whatever reason.
I also like TI's "Live your Life", but I think it's more because I relate it to The Hangover everytime I hear it.
And fiddy cent's "In Da Club" gets my foot tapping too. In spite of how worn out it is...2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

I found, and kept, the cassette at our town dump.
Girl You Know its True. I reckon that Memorex sponsored their world tour... is it live or is it Memorex?

There are a lot of pop songs that intellectually I know are horrible, but secretly I enjoy hearing. The reason songs like that catch on is that they're catchy, so even as your brain is saying "this is devoid of musical talent! a travesty!" you catch yourself bopping along to Lady Gaga or something. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
I used to hate them in the 70's but every now and then I indulge in a Bee Gees tune or two.SDA-1C (full mods)

When I used to be in radio back around 2001, our station sponsored a show at the Post-Gazette Pavilion with Cameo, The Tramps, and The Village People. It was actually a very good show. Must have been the free beer backstage...Y M C A...polk monitor 70's

haha, you said shameful, not tone deaf...
Agreed 200% Bobman.
The only Nelly Furtado song in my collection just came up on my ipod random shuffle, as if to say, "you like more cheesy pop than even you realize".
I can't help it. A catchy beat is a catchy beat. Haha, I like certain songs in spite of who put them out.
But Rihanna is a whole different level of shame for me. I'm actually pondering buying a couple of albums of hers.....God I can't believe I just said that...2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Lionel Richie. Although I like so much that I really can't tell if it's considered cheeseball. At least his music is recorded well.
-
Does it count if I own something but don't listen to it?
I have collected CDs since I was 14 or so, and NEVER sell anything, and when you own 4500 CDs like I do, you're bound to have a few bad ones...so keep that in mind.
Also, if I own anything from an artist, I own every album. It's a wierd OCD thing I have, but every artist in my collection is fully represented (barring any very rare expensive albums).
Most of my embarassment comes in the R&B category...
John Tesh
Josh Groban
Babyface
Bobby Brown
Boyz II Men
Shai
Tony Rich
Tony braxton
Cats (yes, as in the musical)
I think it's time to gather up some of tthese CDs and make a trip to the store and lessen my collection a bit. Those are the ones I'm actually embarrased to own, but I have around 750 CDs that I'll never listen to again, and with the job situation and all I should really go sell those.
I'm just gonna burn the Cats musical though... -
I know.... I probably have some other totally shameful stuff in the collection. I definitely have some Anne Murray and Helen Reddy vinyl. In fact, I just bought a Don Williams LP. I dunno, I have a TON of misc. vinyl that I am saving for the apocalypse.
But yeah, New Kids... (facepalm)
In my defense, I'm like AsSiMiLaTeD. I have a huge collection that I never seem to thin. I really should.-Kevin
