    I don't have breakfast as I get up since my stomach is still aslepp so I keep breakfast at work and as I get to work I make it a duty to eat something;

Healthy cereal/oatmeal with natural yougourt and almond/soy beverage instead of milk.

I like versatility of food so at times I will have health muffin and/or nutrition bars. A s far as the bars, I am very selective making sure they are low fat, and free/low of such garbage as sodium, sugar, cholesterol etc... also making sure they are of good supplements/vitamines value as they are not only used for breakfast but also for snacks instead of chocolate bars and chips.

At times, I will go out of the routine and buy english muffin with bacon and egg. On weekends, more likely brunches and since I love eggs, this is typically my threath.

I wish I had the genetic hand some of you do, but my cholesterol is borderline as it is and I already eat pretty well. If I ate biscuits and gravy every morning, or even weekly, I'd be either dead already or at the very least on Lipitor. No thanks.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

    Doh!

Active topics took me to the second page and I was too lazy to scroll back to the first. After reading the title, that's the first thing I thought of though.

Skim milk is definitely healthier but I just can't stand it. Like everything else if dairy product is abused it is bad. I love dairy products but in my specific situation I have to avoid it. I can't stand soy beverage either but when mixed with plain yogourt it is fine. You pointed out you do not like cereal/oatmeal, try them out with yogourt you might change your taste for this.

I'm not an "organic" weirdo, but the organic milk I buy around here ("The Organic Cow") is amazing - their skim tastes like 2%. Their 2% tastes like whole milk. It costs like 2x as much as regular milk, but skim is otherwise disgusting so... worth it for me since I'm a morning cereal guy.

So, around 4:00 in the afternoon you have a rather large deposit to make?

Weekdays? I usually deprive myself unless I'm really hungry. Then it's usually Hardee's. Occasionally, I'll go to a local Ma & Pa type buffet that flat out rocks.

Weekends? Oh, it's like a ritual. A full fledged breakfast. What we have isn't important. What is, is that we spend family time together cooking and munching. Gives us a chance to sit down and catch up on things we may not have had time for throughout the week.

My favorite? Western Omelet. Diced ham, diced Jalapenos, diced tomatoes and sliced onions all sauteed in butter, covered with Velveeta cheese wrapped in a 2 or 3 egg whipped omelet. MMmmmmMMMMmmmmmGood!

Damn, this thread makes me hungry.

Speaking of breakfast foods, I've been going back to more natural foods whenever I can. Fresh eggs from the farm, you won't believe the taste difference. Milk thats not processed, butter too, and better for ya on top of it. Do yourself a favor and get your read on about milk.

    In response to Tonyb...

I use Eggland's best. Nothing like farm eggs, I agree, but the local farmer's market sells them for about $6.30 a dozen. They are good but not that good. As for the cheese? Man, I've tried so many different types that I almost got sick of my favorite breakfast. When I came back to good ol' Velveeta? I loved it again. Go figure. Eh, it's actually something I like that doesn't cost an arm and a leg....but I'm always open to suggestions.

As far as the milk goes.....do you mean unpasteurized? I thought that was illegal in the states.

The standard milk has it's own hazards like remnant antibiotics and hormones. There are some other theories as to the effect of milk on the body due to its biochemistry. Milk despite being basic actually has a net pH lowering effect due to the fact that our bodies don't readily absorb much of the calcium from milk. Since it's not absorbing new Ca, the body has to use what it has to neutralize the pH, thus resulting in a Ca deficit. Additionally, there are those that believe that 99.9% of humans are lactose intolerant , but at varying degrees, which has it's own hazards. Personally, I don't drink it because of the biochemistry and because of the hormones and medications. I drink soy or almond milk which are all natural alkalizers.

There are lots of other explanations out there, but that's why people (like myself) recommend staying away from milk.

During the week I get up at 5 a.m. to make sure I make breakfast. This morning I had a vegi cheese burger with coffee. I'll have a breakfast burrito & coffee, or apple cinnamon oatmeal made with 2% milk & coffee. Chicken apple sausage, half slice of light wheat english muffin, coffee.

I can have just about anything for breakfast so long as I HAVE breakfast. If I don't have it I'll get sick.

Every morning I drink a green smoothie.

    Ingredients (all are fresh):

    1 organic banana
    1 organic gala apple
1 cup organic blueberries or strawberries or both
    1/2 bunch of organic spinach
3 stalks of kale, no stems
    6 ounces of distilled water

In a blender on smoothie setting.

Makes enough for breakfast and another 2 hours later. The veggies interact with the fruit to control the sugar levels and the green leafy veggies are tolerable with the fruit. It looks awful, but tastes great.

I've been doing this since around Thanksgiving last year an have gone from 225 to 200 lbs. My energy level is through the roof, my skin looks better than it has in years, and my digestive system is back to normal. After many years of hard living (smoking, drinking, eating crappy-but-tasty foods etc.) it feels great. My blood pressure has gone down too!

Since my veggies and fruit are covered here, I usually have whatever protein I want for lunch or dinner. This has been easy.

I'm guessing many on this forum would not ever consider this but, what the hell? It works for me! ...and you asked.

xj, does that taste like anything you could describe? Or is it unique? I'd be curious to try it, looking at the ingredients, outside of the leafy stuff it sounds pretty good.

Do you prefer Italian then? They have three words that generally mean soup: zuppa, brodo, and minestra.

Favorite parents saying to their children, "o sta miestra, o per la finestra". Loosely translated as, "This soup or get out." My parents are teaching it to my children now.

Back to the topic... I generally eat 1 or 2 of the following: banana, yogurt, orange, bread/bagel, mixed fruit, OJ. These are easy to grab and go. I have cereal on weekends.

I agree with others though... fruits, grains, cheese (not processed), and simple cold-cuts are all good for breakfast. Try to stay away from too many sugary and high fat snacks though. I agree with Bobman, much better to eat a plain (no mayo) turkey on wheat bread sandwich with a slice of lettuce or tomato than a sausage and egg bagel.
