For the love.....I'm not even a pro-union person but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to identify that Republicans ARE targeting unions and using it as a political ploy to dig into something they want to nix.......

I guarantee any of you that if you were told that you were going to be seeing a nearly 20% drop in your takehome you'd react.

Beck is an entertainer (if that's the right word).....nothing more.

Yes.. I would react by trying to find another job. The problem is that a typical government worker makes much more than their civilian counterpart for doing the SAME work.(in many cases, much less work) Not taking a pay cut helped the auto workers, didn't it. Detroit just closed the factories instead when the unions said no to cuts. There is a thread somewhere here that shows how well that worked out.

Allowing Government employees to unionize in the first place was an epic mistake, given the known connections unions have had to organized crime and to socialist/communist interests. I for one would welcome a leader that had the guts to do what Reagan did to PATCO, and fire every one of them. With 20 million unemployed in this country, those jobs would be filled in a nano-second by people that WANT TO WORK rather than bite the hand that feeds them.(taxpayers)

Nobody is hiding that fact Brett. Would you rather take home less, or 6000 people lose their jobs ? What they are not targeting is their ability to collective bargain their pay. What they are targeting is the amount they contribute to their healthcare and pensions. From 6% to roughly 12% for them to pitch in. Unions will not give up anything. Public sector jobs should not be better than private sector jobs and they are just trying to bring those 2 closer together. Plus as it is, the state has no control over costs, as in union benefits. Any buisness has to control costs to survive. They simply want control back from the unions. This is what happens when you give too much to a section of people and then want to end it. The same will happen with entitlements once congress decides to end some of them.

I'm surprised there's not some Right Wing organization working on exhuming the Reagan prophet to clone him or something.

There's a difference between working towards a goal and chopping a specific group of people at the knees and telling them to eff off if they dont' like it.

I had forgotten that some Republicans like to act like little dictators in the name of Freedom.
