Yeah the boxes are real cool - lots of neat little things on it...

I like using Cigar boxes for external crossovers for some reason??

    Well...

Considering I am using a Definitive tweeter, a definitive woofer and a POS Aurisound woofer in open air...

There is only one way to describe it, lifeless, brittle, midrangey, and bassless

Other than that - they seem to be stable and ready to rock

lol. I forgot that he probably just sent you the XO's and not the speakers.

ah-ha! Well done. Wish I could be throwing down the dough for some MRs. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the Clarity Cap ESA 250v so I can get mine done.

I am picking up a Clarity MR 5 uF for my new acquisition. They are amazing caps and the price was just lowered on them!

I am looking forward to it... I think this time I am going to use ESA on the midbass - not sure

On my monitors I used the PX on the woofers and the ESA on the tweeter and the combo was pretty freakin crazy too...

I am really excited to hear what Lou says since he is using ESA, SA, PX

    Should be awesome

got them in and installed. I remember the question being asked why mod? My LSi9's are answering that question with authority as we speak.

out of the box, I am stunned. will let these break in a bit before I get detailed.

    pshhh, too busy listening. lol

seriously though, I heard someone use the "lifting a veil" analogy, and you don't know how accurate that is until you hear it. these differences are not subtle.

much more detailed without the brightness I was worried about. so much more detail, you can hear more of the timbre of every instrument. more of a layered presentation, vocals are more forward but the other instruments are in the back.

the bass? thats where it gets ridiculous. tighter, deeper. like "hey, where did you hide the sub?" deep but it doesn't occasionally overpower the room like the AR9's did.

I have stock LSi9' in my heater still, and I could do a side by side comparison at some point, but I'm not in a rush. Like I said, I don't need to compare to pick out subtle changes here. Basically, Trey took a speaker I already loved and opened them up significantly.

They also seem much more efficient in power usage from what I can tell. it gets along famously with my Carver, but the power levels barely move unless I really throttle it....I mean REALLY throttle it, which I dont want to do while they break in (or as some think, I get more aclimated to ).

Some might ask, "why didn't Polk do that from the factory?" and the answer is simple, it wasn't cheap. I'm not blind to the the LSi series still is in the bang for the buck department and this would have made them ALOT more expensive on the retail level.

Trey really outdid himself with these.

Now, let me ask you this. Is this observation done with or without a coke can on top of the speakers?

Tom, I tried Coke and Pepsi and the Pepsi can sounded far better. However, I have no test data to back up my observations.:frown:
