Cut Bill some slack, I know him personally and he is a great guy, and an outstanding father; he's not articulating what he means in a PC way, but I understand what he is saying and his true intentions.

Can we now get back to the purpose of this post?

Gabrielle appears to have a guarded yet positive prognosis, given how severe this type of wound can be; hopefully the next 48hrs go well. We'll continue to pray for her total recovery, as well as the others.

That's the problem with media wanting to be the first to get news to the audience. It's often times unconfirmed...such as giffords being reported as deceased.

Thanks steve, it also doesn't help matters when i post from my pda phone vs my pc. Lol...i said, "pc". ;)

Dude was a nutjob, and a 9 year old girl is dead. Politics don't factor into it, IMO.

My heart ache for that 9 years old girl, born 9/11/2001. What a tragedy. His dad was interviewed and could barely complete his sentence. pure grief.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Yep, we all need to urge anyone who will listen to solve things by talking or writing.

I'm sure every "older" generation probably wondered out loud what the "younger" generation was thinking . . . but I really do wonder what the younger generation is thinking.

There's an article quoting the 22 year old shooters friends at . . .

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/01/09/national/a160942S37.DTL

. . . part of which states, "The friends' comments paint a picture bolstered by other former classmates and Loughner's own Internet postings: that of a social outcast with nihilistic, almost indecipherable beliefs steeped in mistrust and paranoia."

It appears he had been stalking the Congresswoman for 3 to 4 years since 2007 when he attended one of her similar "Congress on your Corner" events.

Well, I guess he will eventually come to the same end as Jeffrey Dahmer, and is probably just as crazy as he was.

All I know...is that all of victims are receiving the absolute best care in all of Arizona at UMC. After being an employee there for over 8 years I can say that it is the best hospital I have ever worked at in 20 years of being a Respiratory Therapist. Southern Arizona is fortunate to have the greatest doctors in the country like Dr. Rhee and his surgical team.

This piece of filth went to the same middle school and HS as my daughter. I know people that live in his neighborhood, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out I've coached kids from there as well. I'm shocked to find out he came from that area.

I've been in that Safeway a bunch of times. This is still just almost unbelievable to me.

And Bizill, I understand what you meant. It was all a bit heated a couple of months ago.

yeah, i should have known others wouldn't understand my perspective. when a person hears about a shooting involving a woman, 9 year old beautiful little girl, senior citizens and others they don't want to hear all of the different angles. at least not right away.

being that i'm on the other side of town it doesn't hit as close to home as you and wes. i go over to that area now and again, but have never been inside that particular safeway. sucks that tucson has to be on the list of cities housing crazies. did you see the interview with the girls friend? she's gonna go to school tomorrow and try to keep things together amongst their friends and school in general. that's gotta be hard at that age.

I honestly think that list includes almost any town. I live in a small town in British Columbia and about 12 years ago a guy went into a house where his ex-wife's sister was getting ready to get married the next day and shot and killed everyone in the house. 9 dead including a small child. The only thing this piece of crap did right was go back to his hotel room and shoot himself. This is Canada's 2nd largest mass murder next to the Montreal Polytechnique school shootings and it was less than a 1/4 mile from where live. These nut jobs are everywhere.

Yeah, it sucks for us here in Tucson to be on the infamous list now. This one will be like Dallas and Kennedy, Colombine, Virginia Tech, and U of Texas watchtower. People will never forget it happened here.

It'll be a destination for the morbidly curious.

I didn't see the interview with the girls friend, but I did just watch an interviw with her parents. That kid was definitely headed in the right direction, and it was sad to watch.

BTW, my stepdaughter works at UMC, and they went into high security mode yesterday.

catch a clue. hang the killer. move on physically, mentally and spiritually. i just stated i hate her politcal views and actions. well, most of them. no, this isn't the way to get folks out of office. but i'm not gonna make this action a martyr for a leader i don't believe in.

tour2ma, i posted "give me a break" directed at posts above yours but was typing on my pda phone and didn't post it for a long time.

and quit labelling me as the killer's sympathizer. i said to execute him. i interjected a comment earlier on about not wanting her to return to office. it surely was worded in a strong manner which was not my intent when i posted it. but i do stand by what i said. this thread just wasn't the place for it. sorry that i'm not just a sheep and will now kneel down and kiss someone's feet just because an act like this has affected her life. sorry, won't do it.

anyway, getting back to the supposed intent of the thread, here's to hoping for as best a recovery as possible. and thoughts and prayers go out to the others that lost their lives. i'm closer to this than most of you here as it's in my own city. i've been watching coverage all day yesterday on it and today since i've woken up. don't try to call me out on this. this hits far closer to me than it does you, not geographically speaking, that is.

I think I understand what you meant a little better after reading the latest posts. I can understand your sentiment. Also, it is refreshing to see that you stand by your convictions.

Bizill obviously doesn't like the way she does politics, I'm sure you guys have politicians you don't agree with. I'm sure Bizill didn't want her to get hurt, but also doesn't want her in office. In the moment he said something he didn't quite mean.

Get over yourselves. You're not perfect either.

"And Im sure you tards [sic] had never said something you regretted or didn't quite mean."

What is that, a condescending remark against people that are born without a certain level of mental capacity? You are saying that people that don't agree with what you think, or say, must be "tards". "Tards"-(according to Cody): a person or persons, who simply cannot compete with my (Cody's) extraordinarily high mental capacity. Or, anyone that doesn't think the way I do-idiots!

You took a break from Mensa to come down here and teach us "tards" what Bizil really meant to say. Treating him as a protective hen mother would treat one of her chicks if threatened by "tards".

You have embarrassed yourself enough, stop now before you pluck yourself again!

I listed all the countries with greater murder rates than the USA...
and listed selected countries with lower one

you can find these figures on wikipedia

I have nothing to add, just really wanted to get in on the ride before we hit the Hall of Shame!

I do have to ask though, what do the above "statistics" have to do with ANYTHING in this thread? I have a sinking feeling in my gut that this is just more leftist drivel exploiting a terrible thing to further a political agenda. If so, no need to reply, just kindly pack up your stuff and move to one of the "selected countries with lower one" and we'll promise to not miss you.

I also have to point out that your statistics include a "per capita" figure but completely ignore other vital and contributing factors like population size, density and the political and military climates of neighboring countries. I guess you can twist any statistics to fit your needs but really, do you have to exploit such heinous happenings every single time to further your agenda? Honestly? It's tiresome.

Looks like they are bringing Sarah Palin's name into this on a few blogs and other events regarding her and some map she placed crosshairs on to include the victim. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Its pathetic how Giffords own party has done nothing from the get go but try to use this tragedy for political gain. Blaming Sarah Palin, the so-called tea party, etc. We, as usual, come to find that this complete lunatic was one of their own. This wasn't politically motivated from all the information available, yet those not involved attach themselves to it and point fingers before any facts are in.

    Sad, but completely expected.

Right on, by the way, BIZILL. If there's anyone out there who wouldn't cower from expressing a perfectly rational opinion when told by others you shouldn't, I knew it would be you.

According to the reports this nut-job has fixated on Giffords for the past 3 years and has been planning to seek some sort of action against her. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that predate the Tea Party, Palin's rise to attention, etc? It's really time to do something about the news media who choose to report their opinions rather than information based on some sort of factual record.
