Nice to see Polk back into high end. Have to agree with Russ's comments though. Don't expect to hook these bad boys up to a midline receiver and expect greatness. Higher end speakers in general will display all your systems faults including source material. Just curious if these will be available to demo at the usual polk outlets ? Kudo's to Polk for hitting one out of the park.

    Like that's something new?

    Russ,

Interesting post expanding upon your inital impressions... As you have time...

For us "spec"-ies in the crowd... what's being quoted for the main ones, i.e., -3dB FR, efficiency, nominal impedance.

I also read Roamingrasta's post with interest. What are your impressions of:
    - imaging/ staging? are they placement finicky?; and
    - versatility across musical genres? acoustic vs. electronic?
    More later,
    Tour...

What does that have to do with specs?

Man, Polk seems to be really playing hard to the audiophile market here. I love all the luxury upgrades added to these speakers. And, I can't wait to see how the new midrange driver integrates with the highs and lows.

I may have missed this in the many threads, but has MSRP been announced?

It is currently covered by a "don't ask, don't tell policy". This will soon be followed by an "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" policy.:wink:

don't expect to hook these to your Adcom or what not - not knocking any gear, but it's a fact, you MUST have a level of fidelity in your back end before you even attempt to get these speakers to do what they are capable of doing.

    Ramp up guys and gals.

But on another note, not one, I mean ONE friggin' member needs to think the 9's, or 15's or whatever they own now are 'not worth it' in the least. LSi7? There will never be another, closest being the TL3 Blackstone. Keep them. Cherish them. GREAT speakers, and the foundation for what Polk is laying down now.

I'm still trying to get a hold of a pair of 9's, I LOVE that speaker, and honestly - although the new LSiM is the goal for the reference rig, I still want the 9's, and that amount of 'forgiveness' that they have for the bulk of my music collection.

These new LSiM series are insane, I simply cannot wait for the forum to start getting their ears on them.

    Cheers,
    Russ

It would be interesting to see in what ways the sound of the towers has changed since the tweaking done after PolkFest. Since Russman was not there is there anyone from Polk at CES who heard the before and after, because it was already clear at PF that these speakers are quite articulate and detailed but some of the SDA crowd still felt they weren't quite all there 'yet'.

The other question would be who their 'target' market is if, indeed, such a high level of equipment is necessary. I wouldn't say that we ran them with EXTREMELY High End components at the Fest...but certainly very very good pieces and they still sounded very 'good' indeed, and were not 'that unforgiving'?

So I guess, what I'm saying is that I'm not following some of the review above.

But then again, I haven't heard the final product.
