I agree, that timeout made no sense to me at the time and I remember seeing Peyton look bewildereda nd upset too.. Nothing was going to be gained by that time out..

Giving Sanchez a chance to collect himself and ready a decent play was a terrible idea (Sanchez was having control trouble the entire game). I'm not a big Caldwell fan.

additionally, you could have done the lame "call a timeout right before the kick" manuver if you keep that time out.. if you are going to use a timeout it'd be better served there than letting the Jets get a freebie..

The timeout he called with less than 30 seconds left was a stupid move. His explanation of it was even worse.

Without the timeout the Jets probably let the clock run down and the kick is closer to a 52 yard attempt...not the 33 yard chip shot they ended up with.

Caldwell is still living off of what Dungy set up and Manning...I don't think he is that good of a coach.
Yeah I didn't know all that. He's made a few boneheaded calls this year, this one I guess cost them the season.

Talk about a great game Sunday (Eagles+Packers)! Was at my Grandpa's house with my Dad watching it. Packers totally owned the first half, but the Eagles are a great team and got back into the game. Missed catches were the linchpin of this game. Both teams lost a sure TD on a missed pass.

Those 2 missed field goals hurt the Eagles too.

Personal opinions aside, Vick is a great quarterback. He had an all-star season this year, and if it was any other team yesterday I probably would have been cheering him on.

Unfortunately, that means my team gets Atlanta next week.

    Ugh.

Its not unfortunate at all. ;)

The last time we played that game was 20-17. We outplayed Atlanta the entire game and lost it at the end by 3 points as we have so many games this year. We did this all, of course, without a running game. If Starks' legs weren't an anomaly and we generate the turnovers we usually do, we win this weekend. Missed opportunities to put opponents away and letting them stay in the game has been our detriment. Hell, the Eagles game went the same way except the defense stood tall and prevailed.

    Packers

    Total Net Yards 418
    Penalties Yards 8-66
    Time of Possession 28:20
    Total Turnovers 1

    Falcons

    Total Net Yards 294
    Penalties Yards 4-50
    Time of Possession 31:40
    Total Turnovers 0

I'm not worried about ATL, despite the fact I had absolutely zero expectations of GB in the playoffs with no run game and so many key starters on IR.

    Should be fun.

Here's to the NFC Championship game in Seattle...

AFC games should be awesome. Modern rivalries don't get much better than Pats/ Jets and Steelers/ Ravens.

Carolina is getting themselve a very good coach. I wish the Chargers would make Rivera a HC, instead of the non-motivator Turner.

+1 He was a big reason the Bears went to the Superbowl in '07. Hated to see him go.

... and the Browns get Pat Shurmur... a dome, WC, 2-yr OC with no HC experience... .... sigh ....

Kinda liked his intro Press Conference comments, but knowing Daddy and having the same agent is no basis for picking a HC. We shall see...

Now Rob (the good twin) Ryan goes to the 'Boys.... their gain.... while Holmgren stalks a 4 - 3 DC (Jauron, Wannstedt) that we do not have the personel to play...

    And so the experiment continues...

    Ditto...

If I'm an NFL HC I'd be hoping that my owner doesn't casually say over lunch today, "How about we hire Jeff as your new DC..."
