Bud Adams, owner of the Titans, says it's time to let Vince Young go and move on with finding a new QB for the franchise.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/nfl/wires/01/05/2020.ap.fbn.titans.young.4th.ld.writethru.1039/index.html

But don't rule out the Titans bailing on Fisher too, apparently.

Oh and Houston hired Wade Phillips as the defensive coordinator. Honestly, that's what Wade is best at and he should be able to make some necessary changes there. Barring a lockout, Houston will likely have a tough defense by the 2012 season if Wade is allowed to do what he does best.

Jerry Jones will hold a 1:30 pm CT press conference to announce new head coach of Cowboys. Still expected to be Jason Garrett.

Also, Todd Bowles from the Miami Dolphins was heavily considered apparently. If he doesn't get the job, he may end up being offered the vacant Defensive Coordinator position on the Cowboys Coaching staff. I wouldn't doubt that we see Ray Sherman moved from the Wide Receivers coach to the new Offensive Coordinator either. Not that anybody cares about the Cowboys but it is interesting stuff and moves like this have fairly far reaching consequences. Especially with what seems to be an impending shake up and house cleaning on the Dolphins.

Why would Tennesse go public with that they are going to get rid of Young? Makes no sense to me why they would do that.

Do you really think Garrett will be able to instill some discipline in Big D? But then again, with a strike / lockout looming for next season, Jerry probably didn't want to invest alot of $ in a big time coach at this point....

man, I hope they get the labor thing resolved or no NFL next season :frown:

Ok, someone help me out here. Why are my Fins dying to get Harbaugh on board? I don't recall a stellar NFL career, and I don't think he's ever coached in the big leagues. Seems like we'd want more of a Cowher kind of coach if we're going to shake things up, but apparently not...

Agree... announcing trade or release basically tells teams no hurry here unless you really, really want Vince...

Seeing him go to Philly could be interesting. He just might listen to/ grow under Michael. There were already rumors about Kobb being traded.

In light of this announcement, now it makes zero sense to let Fisher go as well.. but then we are dealing with Butt Adams here...
    More later,

Harbaugh's off the table in Miami. Sparano is keeping his job mainly because the fish are spooked by the looming lockout and don't want to commit high dollars to a new coach only to have him sitting around for a year or more.

See, I'd like to comment in this thread. But I live near L.A. We used to have professional football, but then the NCAA stepped on USC.

Dolphins are trying to extend Sparano's contract. Good news for anyone who dislikes the Dolphins, because he's not a good coach, IMO.
The Miami Dolphins are prepared to offer coach Tony Sparano a one-year extension through 2012, but sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen raw emotions have developed after the team's pursuit of Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh met earlier Thursday with Miami owner Stephen Ross in the San Francisco area about the Dolphins' job, sources told Mortensen.

But Harbaugh and the Dolphins broke off talks later in the day, sources told The Associated Press.

A source told Mortensen on Thursday night that the Dolphins will retain Sparano.

Harbaugh to the 49er's. Glad he's not going to Michigan.

I'm out and didn't get to watch either game, but looks like my Colts went down in flames.

I'm bummed, but not surprised really...not been a great season for us

Not surprised by the Colts losing either. They have been banged up all year. Hopefully, Polian will get the OL fixed this off-season.

    Jeff Fisher is staying.

Thank God Vince Young is gone. I've been waiting for this day ever since he became a Titan.

Wow, green bay is absolutely dominating Philly. I'm not a fan of either team really, but was hoping to see something exciting from Vick and the eagles, but they're getting beat up by green bay.

    In many ways yes.

I'm not surprised the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens and Jets are in the hunt in the AFC. I expected the Colts to be there also. KC was a surprised, so was the poor season that SD had. I expected them to do better.

The NFC is a different story, it was a really wild Season. I think the City or New Orleans is still in shock, as are Giants fans.

I guess you missed that game in Seattle, where the home team (which was a huge underdog), beat the visiting Saints soundly.

    Hey Bill!

I did see the game! My bad I guess that was in Seattle. This was probably the biggest upset of the weekend. A wild game for sure.

A lot of folks thought the Cowboys, Skins, Cincinnati, etc. would do better. I think these teams suffer from too much owner involvement in the day to day football operations.

Overall, I think it's the Patriot's title to lose. They look unbeatable! But . . . . . they still have to play the games. Anything could happen.

Agreed. It can't be any worse than the guy who plays for the Colts who run into the punter extending the Jets game winning drive.

I missed both games on Saturday, so I didn't know about that. That's just awful. That's two games now the Colts have lost due to a special teams penalty at the end, the game against Dallas was the other...

I like Caldwell and he's a good coach, and I think he's done good things for the team, but I doubt those penalties happen if Dungy is still around.

II like Caldwell and he's a good coach, and I think he's done good things for the team, but I doubt those penalties happen if Dungy is still around.

The timeout he called with less than 30 seconds left was a stupid move. His explanation of it was even worse.
"I didn't care [if they were going to kick.] I was going to make sure they couldn't. Make them snap the ball. They were in field goal range."

"They were in field goal range. So we wanted to try to make them snap the ball as many times as they possibly could. Wasn't going to let them just sit there and take [the clock] down. So [we] used a timeout in that situation."

Without the timeout the Jets probably let the clock run down and the kick is closer to a 52 yard attempt...not the 33 yard chip shot they ended up with.

Caldwell is still living off of what Dungy set up and Manning...I don't think he is that good of a coach.
