What receiver do you recommend to power the LSi series? Do you also recommend using an amp?

Thanks!

Receivers won't do the 15's justice. Get an AVR with pre-outs and get a quality external amp. You won't be sorry.

If you had the LSi 9's or 7's I would say the Harmon Kardon 3490 for 2 channel but even that would be pushing it.

I would suggest purchasing a one of the cheapest receivers you can find from a reputable brand w/ pre-outs and then spend some good money on a 2 channel amp (3 if your using the LSi center)

Yes please use an amp to get the most out of those speakers and prevent prolonged damage to your receiver.

While many go the receiver w/pre-outs and separate amp route as others have said, there are receivers out there that are truly 4 ohm stable. Nad, Sunfire, B&K and others, the top of the line from most of the better known names are sometimes able to carry the load. Is this 2 ch or HT, what's your budget? The receiver and separate amp usually can be had cheaper, but the better receivers that can handle the 4 ohm load, will probably have a better preamp section to them, which should result in better SQ.

Looking for users out there of the EMOTIVA XPA-5 amp. Does anyone have experience with this amp? Would you recommend hooking it up with the DENON AVR 3311CI receiver? I am setting up a home system with LSI 15, LSI 9 and LSI center and want have a 5 channel amp to power them. I am not sure what to invest the best value in; like a ROTEL, ADCOM or NAD amp - a lot more money. The Emotiva is priced at $700. It seems like a good deal.

Thanks for any info : )
