For music only Trey, you need to check out REL.

Hey guys, Karen here from Epik Subwoofers.

Just read the post about shipping costs and wanted to post a quick reply.

Our web ordering system uses a live feed directly from FedEx to calculate shipping costs, so they are our actual charges to the penny.

They take into account our daily pickup charge, residential home delivery, insurance and signature fees.

When Vr3MxStyler2k3 returned his sub specifically (which by the way is our only Legend return to date), many of these same charges were removed. That is, we are a commercial location. It costs much less to ship to commercial addresses than residential. Additionally, Vr3MxStyler2k3 may not have used a daily pickup, insured the package or required signature, which can also account for the difference in cost.

We apologize the subwoofer did not work out for you Vr3MxStyler2k3 and hope my explanation might help you feel better about your experience with Epik.

We hope you find a sub that will work great for you!

    All the best,

    Karen L.

Sort of customer service, but more along the lines of brand protection.

On the other hand, at least they care enough about their product and business practices to explain and defend them.

After reading this thread, I hope Karen takes some of the commentary back to design and production. By the time I can find the room for an Empire they might have all the gripes fixed

No "sort of", their CS is outstanding and have taken care of any problem that has come up. Only negative is they're hard to get a hold of sometimes as they're not a big company with a human answering machine

+1 on OUTSTANDING customer service. Thank you Karen ,this is one of the main reasons I support Epik Subwoofers. In this day and age, it's almost nonexistent to find a company that would take the time to explain this on a public forum. I highly doubt Velodyne or Definitive Technology would do this. REL? I really doubt it.

This particular case is an example of good online brand management, not necessarily an exposition of outstanding customer service.

They did nothing "outstanding" for Vr3MxStyler2k3, merely explaining to him why their shipping costs differed. That is regular customer service you should expect from any respectable company.

Coming on here and explaining to everyone why their shipping costs differ, and mentioning that this is the only sub ever returned... that is savvy online brand management and protection :)

I am sure that there are other instances of outstanding customer service that you are aware of, but this particular interaction does not meet the bar of "outstanding" in my book. It does, however, affirm my view of Epik as a respectable company with whom I look forward to doing business with in the future.

    Hmmm

I skimmed this - but a few things

    1) I shipped from a commercial location. (my place of business)
    2) It was signature required
    3) It was insured for the full 499.00

Fact of the matter is it was over charged from actual shipping.

Either way, the sub was built well and Epik took care of me as far as a refund.

I should not have ever ordered it based on the connections - my bad.
