4 hours later? You were getting sick already. The flu shot took about 12 hours until I felt run down and lasted about 36 hours. Good luck dealing with that on top of the flu shot.

Next time skip the shot and get yourself some elderberry extract.

I never, ever get a flu shot. Why? About 20+ years ago I got one, and came down with the flu. Since then; a good diet, vitamins, a decent sleep schedule and I have yet to get the flu.

I avoid the flu shot, does no good other then make you feel like you got the flu. Just take care of yourself and you don't need the shot.

The flu shot actually can't give you the flu, but it can cause flu like symptoms. IMO that's just as bad as the damn flu. Flu shot? No thank you.

I've never had a shot. Do I occasionally get a mild flu-like virus...yeah but nothing that doesn't go away in a few days and mild for the most part (maybe once every five or ten years) .

It does sound to me, though, that you may be having an allergic response. You know a number of ingredients are involved in creating flu vaccines (eggs for example).

Sounds like it could be an allergic reaction to the carrier in the shot. I'm so fuzzy I don't recall if it's eggs or horse or whatever, but it may be worth paying attention to. It's a common carrier so if you have a problem it will appear with other shots.

They usually hand out literature with those kind of shots- anything in there about your symptoms?

The doc said that the trace amounts of mercury were so small there's no way it can harm the body but the wierd thing is that I never got any literature ?

    Its actualy kinda disturbing?

I was given the flu vaccine on Monday. Tuesday I felt like crap and had no energy and sweat with the lightest exertion, Wednesday much better but still a little more tired than usual, today back to my normal self. Last year when I had one I had zero symptoms. Apparently this years contains H1N1 immunization so maybe that's the deal.

I'm lucky as I don't usually get sick - it's pretty hard for just about anything to live in my bloodstream as I mostly subsist on beer, junk food and lots of exercise.:eek:

But every 5-10 years I do get REALLY sick where I'm down for weeks, like up to 10 weeks sometimes. Good thing it only happens infrequently. :frown::frown:

And get yourself some elderberry extract!!!

    Medicinal Uses

Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is commonly used medicinally. In one study it was shown to be effective for treating Influenza B.[11] People using the elderberry extract recovered much faster than those only on a placebo. The study was published in the Journal of Alternative Complementary Medicine.

A small study published in 2004 showed that 93% of flu patients given extract were completely symptom-free within two days; those taking a placebo recovered in about six days. This current study shows that, indeed, it works for type A flu, reports lead researcher Erling Thom, with the University of Oslo in Norway.[12]

    Taken from wikipedia.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Isn't a Flu Vaccination have some of the "Flu" in it, it's so the body can build a resistance for it?

Mercury is considered more toxic than lead. Ask you doctor what would happen to him if he injected you with the same trace amount of lead.

I had a flu shot go south on me once while in the Army. I projectile vomited out of my barracks window, a good 25ft. After that, I lied and told them I was allergic to eggs. Haven't had the flu since.

Ummm I get sick really easily and never have had the flu shot do that to me (and I've gotten a few of them already). I would say go to the ER as there is somethign you came into contact with you are reacting to and not in a good way.

A very small number of people have a severe negative reaction to the flu shot, you may be one of them. I'd call the doctor.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
